Millie Lands a Movie Deal by Melissa Martineau Alexander opens with the character of Millie finding out that her novel had become a major success overnight. Lindsey Faulkner, a successful actress, had made it her book of the month and wanted to make it into a movie. Declan, a disgraced actor, finds a deep connection to the main character of Millie's book. Declan races to convince Millie to sell him the movie rights, as he is convinced this role could be his way back into the industry. However, Millie isn't sure she wants the fame or should work with Declan, given his colorful past. Who will win the movie rights, and how will that impact Millie's life?

The characters in this book seemed to jump right off the page and into reality. Each of them had a vivid, detailed backstory that gave them depth. Declan's history with drugs and substance abuse gave him a dark background and a laundry list of misdeeds. However, he had taken the grueling steps to get his life back on track, though society still did not accept him. This gave insight into the struggle that addicts face when trying to reintegrate into society after getting clean. Declan's struggles were clearly articulated and faced head-on in the novel. It was refreshing to see characters that were deeply flawed and still making mistakes.

The plot was filled with riveting moments and an ending that shocked me. I can truly say I was not expecting the ending, which is often not the case for me. This was the icing on the already delightful cake that is Millie Lands a Movie Deal.

I am delighted to award this book 5 out of 5 stars. There was nothing I disliked about the book, so there is no reason to give it anything other than perfect marks. The book was exciting, from the opening page to the major twist at the end. Given the cliffhanger of an ending, I look forward to reading the next book in the series. This is an amazing book with realistic, messy characters, and it is well worth reading; it is the perfect book to enjoy in an afternoon!

Wow this sounds like my kind of book. I like how you said the characters jumped off the page, that's some skilled writing by the author. Declan sounds like a character you love to hate. I'm looking forward to reading this, thanks.

What a wonderful review of Millie Lands a Movie Deal! It sounds like Melissa Martineau Alexander has crafted a compelling, character-driven story with relatable, messy, and flawed individuals, making it all the more realistic and engaging. The idea of an author thrust into unexpected fame, along with the moral complexities of working with a formerly disgraced actor, seems like the perfect setup for a story rich with tension, growth, and self-discovery.
