Freja’s evolution from a grieving daughter to a determined investigator showcases her resilience. The dynamics with her parents’ friends, particularly the Guilfoyles and Jupps, add depth to her quest for justice. The novel explores themes of betrayal, loss, and the relentless pursuit of truth. Tiley skillfully portrays how past secrets can haunt families and shape futures.

Imagine finding out that your father was killed by his trusted partners, same people who came to the house, you called them 'uncle' apparently, you shared all your joys with them and placed them on the same pedestal as your father. That is the highest form of betrayal for a young mind to take in. Like all your childhood was a lie. Unravelling this secret will be worth the time. Congratulations on BOTD.

I am a fan of suspenseful mysteries, and was immediately drawn to this book by the title. A murder covered up as a suicide, and years later there's the daughter trying to find out the truth. I look forward to reading this one.

This is a classic case of a daughter seeking justice for the death of her father. I'm only concerned that she has to fraternize with her supposed enemies to get the information she needs. I hope she gets the justice she seeks.

I always enjoy a good murder-mystery novel. I enjoy solving crimes along with the protagonist, so no doubt I'd enjoy following Freja as she uncovers the truth behind her father's death on whether or not be really committed suicide. And figure out just what else she discovers from the mission she's on of finding out how her father died.

Can't say that the stories of children uncovering the mysteries of their parents' lives is my cup of tea. You never know what you will find and, as a private person, I believe that everyone has a right to secrets of their own, but then again, the crime mystery is my favorite genre and the reviewer made it almost impossible to resist. Congratulations on BOTD!

Thank you for your detailed review of The Devil's in the Daughter by Melvin P. Tiley! It’s clear from your description that the book offers a well-crafted blend of suspense, intrigue, and character development. I’m especially intrigued by Freja’s bravery and determination in uncovering the truth about her father’s death, despite the risks involved. The inclusion of psychological and forensic elements also adds a fascinating educational layer to the story, which makes it stand out from typical mystery novels.

I appreciate how you highlighted Jiera Patel’s growth from a novice detective to a tenacious force of justice—this transformation adds depth and relatability to her character. The way Tiley weaves these strong, resilient characters into a complex web of secrets and betrayal seems to be a major strength of the book. Your mention of excellent editing and the absence of any dislikes makes me even more eager to read this gripping tale. Thank you for the thorough and engaging review!
