This book offers an inspiring and thought-provoking narrative about pushing beyond comfort zones, as the author embarks on a daring twelve-day hike from Zurich to Geneva. The journey combines adventure, philosophical musings, and unexpected challenges, making it both entertaining and deeply reflective. Nice review.

"The elderly Gentleman's Ulyssee" by Hans Bodmer is a travel journal book that follows the 12-day journey taken by Hans Bodmer from Zurich to Geneva. The journal covers the day-to-day events from start to finish as Hans, the hiker, experiences meeting strange people, places and unusual practices along the way. The author uses a unique style of short sentences to tell the story. This does not make the story boring but actually makes it very interesting. The story begins with a prologue where we meet an older gentleman named Hans, a man that has made this trip before but via trains and airplanes. Hans is an old man that must plan carefully for a hike from Zurich to Geneva. The details of each day are very thorough and Hans muses about many things including life, the future, philosophical and moral questions. Hans has quite the adventure that is beautiful and hilarious. The book includes sayings and proverbs to illustrate what he is describing from a third-party point of view, so it reads as if the author was not the hiker. The writing is so realistic it is hard to put the book down and some readers could read the entire book in one sitting. The descriptions of people and places are so descriptive it enables readers to envision being there. This book should appeal to teens, adults and seniors that enjoy traveling. I have added the book to my to-read list.

Thank you for the detailed review. I’m inspired by how Hans challenges himself to hike from Zurich to Geneva despite his age. Your description of the short, humorous writing style and the inclusion of quotes and proverbs makes the book sound both engaging and thought-provoking. Suspenseful is the realistic challenges he faced, like dealing with weather and unexpected encounters. I also appreciate your recommendation.

The traveller has a lot of takes to tell. The author's twelve days trip must be full of adventures and stories to share about the people and places he encountered. It seems like an interesting book.

Traveling from Zurich to Geneva on foot is not a small feat, and that it was carried out by an elderly gentleman makes it even more interesting. 'The Elderly Gentleman’s Ulyssee by Hans Bodmer gives the reader a front row seat to the adventures of the author himself. Congratulations on BOTD.

I love Switzerland, I love hiking, I love new encounters. The review of this book made me add it to my 'to read' shelves even before leaving a comment here, I am intrigued by the writing style of using short sentences. It’s short, beautiful, hilarious, and adventurous.
- Hilariousness sits with me very well. Even the most serious of things should have a bit of humor to bear it better. I like how this old gentleman took up hiking, lived to tell the tale and was able to be humorous to an extent too. I enjoyed the review. Thank you.

At first, I was a bit hesitant to read this book because I thought it would be bland. But with this review, it made me want to read it and indulge in it. It made me want to know more about the author's journey. I'm pretty much excited to see the humor in it.
