Congrats on BOTD!
The moving autobiography "Dragons and Butterflies" by Johnnie Calloway tells the story of overcoming addiction and abuse to discover meaning and hope. This is frank, unvarnished, and intensely personal, and it's ideal for anyone looking for inspiration or insight into life's difficulties.

I love listening to audiobooks on my commute to and from work. I was intrigued by this story when I read the sample. Your review sold it for me. This sounds like an inspiring story of struggle and triumph. Thank you for your review

I’m not really into audiobooks, but your review got me interested in checking out the story of Johnnie Calloway. Calloway has been through a lot in life, dealing with everything from abuse to addiction. I’ll consider listening to it. Thank you for an informative review.

I love the fact that this book is narrated from the first person POV. It's equally well edited and interesting.
Thank you for a great review.

I believe this to be a very deep story. It falls easy for the reader to empathize with the protagonist. The presence of very tough themes adds much to the narration.

 I love reading books that talk about someone's life and their upbringing into the person that they are today. I really enjoyed reading the sample of the "Dragons to Butterflies"! The little boy in this story really thought that he killed his mother because he didn't kiss him. (Everyone has lost someone that they're really close to and we know the reason to that person leaving this Earth. If you don't want to hug or kiss that person and they pass away, it's definitely not our fault.) Everything after that including his father beating on him and his sister, the dog Bridgette getting ran over and the little girl that died in the tornado, he thought . If he would have just kissed his mother before she passed away none of this would be happening to him! More into the chapter that shocked me was even when his father was beating on him he had some sort of pleasure as when his dad would do that to him. He also thought he should protect his sister but he also loved her and not in the family matter but as like a boyfriend or girlfriend type of love.

I seldom listen to an audiobook, but it sounds like this one should be the exception. The topic is emotional and hearing the author tell his story and hear his emotions, sounds as if it will enhance the value of the book. Not having to encounter errors and noting them are additional benefits. It must be difficult to talk about one's troubled past and it's commendable that the author is honest and factual to help others learn from his mistakes. Thank you for your insightful review.

Callaway sounds impressive. 'I like that Calloway does not come across as arrogant when he describes his successes. He does not try to elicit sympathy as he discusses his hardships.'

Memoirs are not my cup of tea but the book sounds quite moving and emotional. The fact that the author himself read the book is an additional bonus as no one else can express the real feelings as the person who put those words on paper. And the cover is really awesome, those dragon eyes on the butterfly's wings are mesmerising. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!

Thank you for your review. I read the sample. Sadly, the authorities failed the children, Johnnie and his sister Jackie. Disgusting living conditions and sexual abuse are described in this book. Hopefully, Johnnie's story will raise awareness of these situations. It is a miracle that he lived to tell his inspiring story. Congrats to the author's #BOTD.

I love audiobooks, but I'm not a fan of non-fiction. However, the review is great and the book sounds intriguing. I really hope it helps addicts overcome their addiction.
