Review of The Christmas Quest

The Christmas Quest by Harleen & Andrew is a collection of fables about the magic and spirit of Christmas. The fables are in the midst of an epic rhyming poem about Captain Whitebeard and his crew as they sail in search of treasure. Along the way they must please the Dragon Ragnor with their tales, or he will not light their way throughout twenty-four obstacles at sea.
The Christmas Quest is not as simple a book as one might expect. The poem about Whitebeard’s adventure evokes a sense of childlike wonder. The fables in each chapter are richly detailed; the tales stir the imagination. Each one has a moral lesson woven into the dialogue between characters, and the lessons never feel forced. The unexpected twist at the ending was creative. All of these aspects of the book are why I give it a rating of four out of five stars.
Although Whitebeard and his crew and the Dragon Ragnor are a part of the book that will appeal to children, the fables are not all warm and fuzzy. While most of the tales evoke a sense of being timeless as the Christmas spirit itself, some are modern. This is evidenced by references to things like modern technology, and the daily pressures of a modern career. A few of the fables are decidedly adult themed and at times depressing.
There is one reason why I didn’t give The Christmas Quest a perfect rating. Some of the fables weren’t as impactful as the others. “A Magical Harvest” had no central characters. In “Trading Traditions”, the Hedgehog family reads like it is a story about humans. More descriptions of animal like characteristics would’ve made more sense. The tale called “The Funny Guy” didn’t seem like it belonged in the book at all, but rather as a vignette from a modern-day romance novel.
Harleen and Andrew’s book will appeal to both kids and adults who want to get in the spirit of Christmas.

The Christmas Quest by Harleen & Andrew sounds like a charming and imaginative collection perfect for the holiday season. With its unique blend of rhyming poetry and fables, the book follows Captain Whitebeard and his crew on a magical quest, where they must entertain the fearsome Dragon Ragnor to continue their journey. Each chapter’s richly detailed tales capture a sense of wonder, and the moral lessons are woven naturally into the storytelling. The creative twist at the end makes this an enjoyable and memorable read, earning it a well-deserved four out of five stars.

The Christmas Quest is an extraordinary holiday book by Mary Monroe which talks about Christmas, family, hope and redemption in a beautifully written story. The main character of the book, Traci, decides to find the Christmas spirit and the family members who have been alienated from her after all the struggles.

Since I was a kid I have always like a compilation of fables starting out with Aesop's Fables and Book of Virtues. There is just something about a short story woven with a moral or lesson that just warms the heart. This review gives me hope that this book of Christmas fables will steer along the same lines as those other fable books. I can't wait to give this book a read!

Harleen and Andrew's "The Christmas Quest" reminds me so much of my childhood fantasies about Christmas. The enchanting journey the book takes readers on presents a festive cheer, together with family bonds, and the reflection it leaves on us. The humour and emotions Christmas conveys is also captured in this book. A truly beautiful piece.
