Romantic historical fiction is not really my thing, but from the review, it seems the book has a whole lot more to offer than just romance. I'm rooting for Lily and can't wait to read!

I'm always intrigued by the stories and struggles the slaves endured during that era. The unspoken tragedies and injustices that happened and the white masters tried to bury have a special spark when they are unraveled. Thanks for the recommendation.

The book seems interesting. It is also heartwarming and rather emotional with Lily's quest for her mother, her desire for freedom, her growing relationship with James and all those cases of racism and human narrow-mindedness. I think I will give the book a try. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!

Congrats on BOTD!
"The Prodigy Slave, Book One: Journey to Winter Garden" by Londyn Skye skillfully combines the brutal realities of slavery with an engrossing romance. Raw portrayals of love, sorrow, and resiliency are interwoven with Lily's journey from being betrayed by her childhood friend James to becoming a musical prodigy. This makes for a compelling and thought-provoking beginning to the trilogy.

Reading this book was an intense emotional journey; never have I felt such dread for the outcome of the characters, especially Lily. If you like really intense novels, this one is for you. Thanks for the review!

I love historical romances, and Lily and her passion for music seem fascinating. Slavery and its consequences make this book quite meaningful. Thank you for your review.

This is no doubt an extraordinary story of a slave girl who had a romantic relationship with a prince. "The Prodigy Slave, Book One: Journey to Winter Garden" by Londyn Skye is a beautiful book everyone should read.

The "Slave Code" sounds like something abominable. However, it shows how cruelly the slavery industry worked. It's amazing that James turned into a mean and cruel man like his father after having a close friendship with Lily. Sounds interesting!

I read this book near the beginning of my time on OBC (before I realized that without a cell phone reviewing would be impossible) and really enjoyed it. It kind of broke my heart though, and I didn't get around to reading the sequel(s) to find out what happened next. You know, "book 1 blues" when the story arc is left hanging to make you read part 2 and beyond. Now my Kindle app is enormously backlogged... freebie day emails with all kind of $0 Kindle books on the day after Christmas surely isn't helping! Keeping the email so I can find the book again later.

Thank you for the review. I read the sample. Lily and James have a sweet relationship as children, which changed when James was blackmailed by his older brother. I am interested in how Lily can share her love of the piano to better her life. Congrats to the author for the #BOTD.

The mix of history and fantasy creates a unique story that keeps you hooked from start to finish. I really enjoyed how the protagonist's struggle for identity and power is portrayed, making it a thought-provoking and powerful read.

Great review! I have read some of this book, and I am hooked on it already. I can't imagine being the daughter of a slave and being bought like a piece of property. What will happen to Lilly?
