If Tomorrow Comes by Sidney Sheldon! It's one of my favourite books and everyone I recommend it to adores it. It has everything you could want in a book, strong characters, great world-building, and one of the best plots I've ever read. It has it all, so please give it a go and read it before you die! you won't regret it.

I actually have a book called 1000 Books to Read Before You Die by James Mustich, and I highly recommend you pick it up! It’s a fantastic list and has little blurbs with each book so you can decide what sounds good to you. It’s my go-to if I can’t decide what to read next, and it feels like such an accomplishment when I can mark another one as read.

Ceildric wrote: 23 Dec 2023, 02:22 Since you frame this as something to complete before death, it seems to me you would want to choose books that help prepare you to die well. Thus I would say you must read Plato and the Stoics (e.g. Marcus Aurelius, Seneca, Epictetus). Plato was not a Stoic, but he had in common with them the idea that philosophy both was meant to ensure a life well-lived and a death approached without fear.
I second this. :tiphat:

Candide by Voltaire. Really good, short philosophy-based classic fiction novella that is surprisingly easy to understand for the modern reader and quite funny.
