Adoptive Personality by Cassandra Scearce

Post by hayleyb1 »

Adoptive Personality is a murderess/mystery/erotic novel that was self-published by the author. The main character describes in nauseating and horrific detail the sexual abuse and trauma suffered at the hands of her father, trying to get help from her mother that does not care, and the mental state of a young girl suffering and trying to be unattractive to her attacker. She murders them in their home and walks away from the incident with only superficial injuries to herself to make the rescue squads believe she tried to save her parents. Eve is then bounced between foster homes until she finds one that ignores her and provides no guidance.

Eve drops the weight that she had gained to deter her father, whom she found out was her adoptive father, and discovered that her "parents" had hidden her social security card and real birth certificate from her while lying about her being adopted. She later becomes a stripper and dominatrix, murders a secretary to gain her job, and seduces her new boss all to resolve her own twisted issues with her adoption and childhood.

The story is sickening in its details and the writing style is very unrefined and basic. The ending made me sick when it was revealed who the boss was in relation to Eve. If you like very grotesque and intricate novels that hold a large portion of mystery to the ending, this is the book for you. However, if you have a weak stomach or do like to have nightmares from reading, avoid this book.
