The suspense and the MC's journey is intriguing, but the unresolved threads stop the book from achieving greatness. Will the journalist crack this ordeal? Read to find out.

Thank you for such an insightful review of Winter Kill! I love the unique approach the author takes by telling the story from the suspects' perspectives rather than focusing on a detective's point of view. It sounds like this approach not only adds a fresh twist to the genre but also deepens the emotional engagement with the characters, which I find really intriguing. Your comparison to Crime and Punishment piqued my interest, as I enjoy stories that explore the psychological aspects of crime. I also appreciate that you mentioned the book's unpredictability and how it keeps readers guessing—I love mysteries that can truly surprise me. While it's a bit disappointing that some loose ends weren't tied up, it sounds like the gripping narrative and strong structure more than make up for it. Your review has definitely convinced me to give this book a try, especially since I’m a big fan of Agatha Christie-style whodunits. Great job on the review!

In Winter Kill we see the journalist Oliver is thrown in a murder mystery and he tries to uncover it. I love thriller novels and I will read this one. Congratulations on BOTD.

Winter Kill by E.J. Pepper is a novel approach to crime fiction that tells the story from the perspective of the suspects. The book explores complicated themes of guilt, motives, and discovering the truth after journalist Oliver Moorhouse gets involved in a murder connected to a member of the House of Lords.

I love a whodunit. And multiple POVs can be especially enriching —and enthralling— in these stories. I also love how diverse the cast of characters is. Thank you for your review!

'Official Review: Winter Kill' by E. J. Pepper provides clarity on the plot of the crime fiction. It presents the reviewer's perspective on the story. This is the story of a downtrodden journalist Oliver Moorhouse who gets involved in a murder case. The level of mystery in the story is great. The author lets her readers through the suspect's story, insights, and backstories. It was great to learn that the book is recommended to readers who enjoy Agatha Christie's whodunits and detective TV shows!

The best thing about it really is that no one is completely innocent, everyone has something to hide and that makes you suspect everyone and no one at the same time, the intrigues between the Lords, the friends and even Ollie's decisions have you wondering who it was.

In “Winter Kill”, the author, E. J. Pepper, uniquely utilizes the point of view of various suspects in a murder to narrate the story. This perspective is enough to trigger my curiosity about the killer. Thanks for the informative review. I commend the author on BOTD status.

“Winter Kill” by E.J. Pepper is a fictional mystery thriller that tells the crime story from the perspective of several suspects that could be involved in the crime. Oliver Moorhouse is one of the main characters and he was getting by as a journalist until his chief editor put him on the murder case when a member of the House of Lords was killed. Then Ollie’s informant Lord Hamish is murdered and he becomes the prime suspect. Thinking that no one will believe his story he broke the true story while several interesting alternative plots were being discussed in the homes of Lord Leebury and his friend Greg Jacobs. Telling the story from the perspective of the suspects was much better than just following investigators trying to solve the case. I highly recommend this book. This is an excellent whodunnit novel that earned the 5 out of 5-star rating.

I like the fact that this story is told from the suspects' perspective, giving it a fresh air of mystery, unique from the traditional use of a detective's perspective. Thanks for the review.

I was extremely excited as well about the modern-day UK setting, Pepper's definitely giving Sherlock some competition! I was disappointed reading the sample with the pace and, from your review and statement of un-tied loose ends, I would suggest this book has incredible potential amongst crime fictions if there were some adjustments to pace and suspense (including resolutions). In terms of your review, I like how you outlined the plot and gave review suspense without spoilers, though I would have liked to see viewer discretions included as I and ithers rely on them for various reasons. Great review!

This review wonderfully emphasizes the distinctive approach of Winter Kill by E.J. Pepper, focusing on the emotions of the suspects instead of the detective’s process. The parallel drawn with Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment adds richness to the analysis, though the wish for greater closure is understandable. A thoughtful and captivating critique!
