This is an intriguing story plot. Aside from the dangers faced with a natural calamity, the book also follows a thrilling chase involving a cult. This is sure to offer suspense and thrills amongst readers.

Well written review. The story seems to have a good plot with mystery. But not my favourite genre. So I will skip it. Hoping it reaches the right readers. Congrats on BOTD

'Intercessor' had me hooked from the beginning with its eerie atmosphere and the sense that something was just off in New Orleans. I completely agree about the creeping horror—I kept wanting to look away but couldn't!

One highpoint of the review of "Intercessor" by John Robert Still is the statement that: "This book gives hope that even if you are lost or have fallen off your path of faith, there is still a road to lead you back to God" and I hope that everyone will find this road.

I'm so glad you mentioned the atmosphere because that's what really grabbed me! John Robert Still did an amazing job of making you feel like you were right there in New Orleans, experiencing the unease and the impending storm. The way he described the environment made everything so much more intense.

This sounds like a very intriguing narrative. I'm very curious to find out what 'storm' is coming as I have a feeling it's nothing nature related. Thanks for a great review. Congrats on BOTD.

In Intercessor, we see Jim leaving the law firm he had worked at for over 15 years. What must have prompted this? Congratulations on BOTD.

“for a purpose”

So was this based on a true story, or? It seems so, if we are to believe serendipity is more than just serendipity.

A book can of course set up things to flow into each other- and writers are even often advised to include very few extraneous things.

But in real life, coincidences (or more?) just happen.

Not exactly my usually preferred reading material, but almost despite myself, I became very intrigued by the description of this book. The reviewer did excellent work by first confusing and then mounting interest, listing the facts and clearing nothing. Thanks for bringing it to my attention, and congrats on BOTD!

I would like to know why Attorney Jim Hampton was on chemical pills for fifteen years of his practice as a lawyer. Thanks for an interesting review.

“Intercessor” by John Robert Still is a story about an attorney named Jim Hampton who spent 15 years of his career on chemical spills and other disasters in Louisiana. He traveled to New Orleans and is watching George’s house, a friend from law school, while he is away in Europe. Jim sensed that something seemed odd in New Orleans. Was it a potential storm or a horrific hurricane like Katrina. He stopped at a local bar run by Carlos and had a few drinks and then he went to another bar where he met Myriam, a woman that worked at the bar. They had a friendly conversation and she invited Jim to follow her the next day to see her family in Terrebonne Parish. He accepted but was still uneasy because he had been cautioned to be careful by Carlos and Myriam. After seeing Myriam home, he stopped at another bar and met Erin and Shiela, two interesting women that invited him to accompany them to a party. When they arrived, he learned that it was a drug indulging party and the two women wanted him to buy drugs for them. He refused and Erin cursed him and hoped he would die with a woman. Is Erin a witch? This is a very exciting story filled with many people that are affected by Jim’s decisions. Storm Anita was bearing down on New Orleans so Jim sensed a bad omen from Erin and Shiela. One would think this is a horror story but it is really a story about people that have fallen off the path to faith, and they have opportunities to come back to believing in God. Most of the characters are Catholic and do not hesitate to reveal their love of God and the Virgin Mary. Jim is obviously an alcoholic and he has several drinks at each bar he visits so this could offend some readers. The sample and official review were excellent and therefore I am adding this book to my to-read shelf.

The premise of the story already tells me that something is up. I don't know whether Jim is ready for what he is about to experience in New Orleans.

This book masterfully intertwines mystery, suspense, and spirituality, creating a gripping narrative that explores faith, redemption, and the unseen connections between people. The vivid descriptions of New Orleans and the looming storm heighten the story's tension and immerse readers in its eerie atmosphere. Nice review.

I'm curious to see how the religious and horror aspects of this novel are synonymous with Jim's New Orleans experience. This novel is going to be on my must-read list of 2025. Congrats to the author for having the BOTD.

I've always loved mystery, and yes, I totally understand what you mean when you say your curiosity got the better of you! I dont particularly like horror stories, but curiosity to know what happens next keeps me going. I do have some questions concerning apparitions of the Virgin Mary, and I'm wondering if this book, though fiction, could provide some of the answers.
