Gret survived the war of the century and, having been abandoned by his birth mother, was adopted. His adopted mother dies in a suspicious way. Gret can see the dead. He sees a dead young woman who seems to want his help. It's an interesting setup.

The book also seems to portray the struggles and sufferings humans have to encounter sometime in their lifetime. The crimes and mysteries add to the excitement of the storyline. Gretan was abandoned by his birth mother, died twice during his birth but was revived both times. He was diagnosed with minor epilepsy and autism. He was then adopted by a family that had lost two sons in the 2158 war. When he was 10 his adopted mom went to work and never returned. When her body was found it was determined that she died from asphyxiation. Gret’s adoptive dad left him with his grandmother until she died in 2192 from stage 3 lung cancer. He began having dreams and also began having paranormal visions and he was able to see the dead. This book is a thriller that will keep readers guessing and on the edge of their seats until the climatic ending. A mystery with an excellent plot and great character development that deserves a 5 out of 5-star rating.

Ok, I know it's not very healthy or original, considering how often authors nowadays use the scenarios, but I really like post-apocalypse worlds. In my opinion, they offer an interesting view on the best and worst sides of humans and also, to a point, predict the future. To be honest, I still wait to hear that during Covid vaccination the trick from "Lottery" was employed. Congrats on BOTD!

She was later found dead, and the cause of death was asphyxiation. Her death affected his adopted father a lot, leading him to make a decision that left Gret with his grandmother. On January 3, 2192, his grandmother died of stage three lung cancer, leaving him yet again as the last man standing in his life.

I was not sure what to expect from the title of the book but going through the sample, it definitely promises to be an intriguing one. Reading the sample, I felt a deep sense of pity for Gretan because nobody deserves to be born into the circumstances in which he was born and when it appeared like he was starting to have a good life, death takes his mother and his father disappears into thin air.
However, Gretan, with his spirit of resilience and the help of his grandmother finds a way to live a decent life. Upon the demise of his grandmother, he acquires a gift which he doesn’t know about. I am really curious to see how his life plays out after this discovery and how the book develops.
This is a book that is different from what I would normally read but the writing and story is so well done that I’m interested to find out what comes next.
