This memoir narrates Shelley's experience in a toxic relationship with Matthew. She accurately and accessibly explains the concept of gaslighting, which was a common occurrence in the relationship. The book also touches on mental health, and many people will find it helpful.

Not only is this book written in my most disliked genre, but to make it worse, the story relates to manipulation and abuse, which can't be classified as light topics as well. Apologies, but I find the description provided quite unappealing for my tastes in literature and therefore prefer to pass. Still, congratulations on BOTD!

I admire Shelley's courage and strength to write out how she was manipulated and abused by Matthew. Others can as well learn from her experiences.

I believe that love is the first step, but it has to be built on to develop other important factors in relationships. I like that the author used her life experiences to show us the light in these areas. I'm sure many who are currently in the situation she found herself will benefit from this book.

“Love Isn’t Always the Answer” by Shelley L. Levisay is a memoir that chronicles Shelley kept during her toxic relationship with Matthew. Shelley’s parents got divorced when she was young and coming from a broken family and poor social life, she grew up to be a very successful lawyer. She always sought attention and wanted to please people. she ended up meeting a narcissist who acted like he cared about her which resulted in her being mentally and physically abused and Matthew also manipulated her. Shelley takes readers on a long ride through the years of abuse. Shelley explained the causes and factors that effect mental health issues like personality disorders and narcissism. Mental health needs to be treated when people are young so that they can be helped before the issues get too hard to handle.

I've had my share of bad relationships, and I can confidently say that love is not always the answer. I commend the author for sharing her experiences, as it may help others recognize the signs earlier and take steps to change their own stories.
