It is good to know that the author allows for more detailed descriptions of some key scenes, as I also find that creates an immersive experience. While I agree that some elements were predictable, your mention that there were other unexpected turns does make me curious to see if I’d also manage to anticipate what was coming.

"NIGHTMARE BEFORE MARDI GRAS" by Robert Sterling Hecker is a very exciting and suspenseful thriller that tracks Sergeant Jeremy Porter’s life as he tracks down child abusers. Porter who suffered from traumatic nightmares finally agreed to his wife Sally’s plea that he see a doctor to help him. Jeremy had uncovered corruption in the NOPD where departments were covering up crimes to make the crime rate go down and Jeremy was shot by his supervisor during his investigations. After seeing a psychiatrist named Dr. Dinh, and recounting his vivid dreams he walks out and sees a young boy that was also going to see the doctor. This boy was Julio and he was having a dream every night since he returned from summer camp that he was kidnapped while in his sleeping bag inside his tent, and dragged away by a strong man. Julio refused to talk about that night and the doctor thought he had been sexually abused. Jeremy is determined to find the man that abused Julio and return to the NOPD and help clean out the corrupt cops and corrupt high-ranking members of the community that were involved. I cannot wait to read the rest of the book and learn if Jeremy completes his mission and Julio is able to regain his life without nightmares. Based on the sample I feel the book should have received 5 out of 5-stars but I will re-evaluate after reading the entire book. The subject matter is best for adults.

This review effectively captures the essence of The Other Side of Crisis, highlighting its gripping plot, well-developed characters, and intense pacing. I appreciate how the review emphasizes the international scope of the story, weaving political conspiracies with personal struggles. The mention of Riana’s historical lineage adding weight to her predicament is particularly insightful. The critique also balances praise for the suspenseful action with an appreciation for the novel’s emotional depth. Overall, this review provides a strong and thoughtful analysis that would genuinely help readers decide whether to pick up the book

The involvement of high-profile individuals in crimes can be frustrating. I would want to know how Jeremy Porter handled the investigation process.

Sergeant Jeremy Porter is the protagonist in this suspenseful thriller. He's on the hunt for suspected child molesters and owes the victim, Julio, and his mother the justice they deserve. The book is engaging and sorrowful and unearths the depths of human wickedness. The involvement of high-ranking community members complicates things for Porter.

Julio must have witnessed a terrible incidence at his overnight camp, but I feel the magnanimity of the terror makes him choose to pretend it didn't happen.

"Nightmare Before Mardi Gras" is a gripping thriller that follows a determined detective investigating the disturbing case of Julio, young boy suffering from nightmares after a mysterious retreat. As the investigation deepens, Porter uncovers a chilling conspiracy involving influential individuals, forcing him to navigate a dangerous web of corruption while fighting to protect the innocent.

Not that I am thrilled about the crime described in the book; to be honest, I believe those involving children are the most disgusting things in the world, but private investigations leading to uncovering great conspiracies are my favorite scenarios. Still, I am not sure how I will be able to stomach the description of a child's suffering and probably will have to pass.

This is a story of child abuse on another level. I suspect some diabolical things involved in the case of Julio. I hope Porter figures out what is going on.

Julio must have had a horrifying experience for it to to have turned to nightmares, without any memory of the actual events. I'm glad he had someone to fight for him.
