Young boy Julio's mother feels that the boy's nightmares are linked to some incident at his overnight camp stay. Sergeant Porter is determined to unravel the mystery and bring criminals to justice even if they are high ranking officials. The plot is interesting and readers of this specific genre will like it.

Sergeant Porter brings child abusers to justice. He takes up a case involving a young boy, Julio, whose nightmares link to a bad incident. As Porter goes deep, many influential people are involved. Porter's personal life is in danger, and the sacrifices he makes while working on the case are admirable.

Thank you for this review.

I've only sampled the first 4 chapters and the storyline is gripping. There seems to be a connection between Julio Serbas and Jeremy Porter's stories.

I appreciate that the language used is not too gruesome.

I cannot wait to finish up reading the rest of the book.

Hi @Putta Vinay, I just read your comments on the official review of "NIGHTMARE BEFORE MARDI GRAS" by Robert Sterling Hecker and while I appreciate your eloquent prose I would add more detail about the story. For example: "NIGHTMARE BEFORE MARDI GRAS" by Robert Sterling Hecker is a very exciting and suspenseful thriller that tracks Sergeant Jeremy Porter’s life as he tracks down child abusers. Porter who suffered from traumatic nightmares finally agreed to his wife Sally’s plea that he see a doctor to help him. Jeremy had uncovered corruption in the NOPD where departments were covering up crimes to make the crime rate go down and Jeremy was shot by his supervisor during his investigations. After seeing a psychiatrist named Dr. Dinh, and recounting his vivid dreams he walks out and sees a young boy that was also going to see the doctor. This boy was Julio and he was having a dream every night since he returned from summer camp that he was kidnapped while in his sleeping bag inside his tent, and dragged away by a strong man. Julio refused to talk about that night and the doctor thought he had been sexually abused. Jeremy is determined to find the man that abused Julio and return to the NOPD and help clean out the corrupt cops and corrupt high-ranking members of the community that were involved. I cannot wait to read the rest of the book and learn if Jeremy completes his mission and Julio is able to regain his life without nightmares. Based on the sample I feel the book should have received 5 out of 5-stars but I will re-evaluate after reading the entire book. The subject matter is best for adults. @Mrlefty0706

I found your review well-balanced and objective. You highlighted the book’s strengths, such as the well-built suspense and the emotional impact of the investigation, while also pointing out issues like editing errors and underdeveloped subplots. I liked how you explained your rating and clearly defined the target audience. Overall, it’s a clear and well-founded analysis!

I found the review well-balanced, highlighting the gripping tension of the plot and the emotional impact of the protagonist while acknowledging issues like editing errors and underdeveloped side plots. The critique was honest and well-reasoned, conveying both enthusiasm for the book and the reservations that might affect the reader’s experience.
