This is a great review! "Plan to Profit" by Chuck Miller sounds like a valuable guide for aspiring entrepreneurs, especially in home-building and remodeling. I’d love to acquire this book and experience its insights to build a strong, lasting business.

Starting a business is tedious, and usually, people go into it focusing on the reward they will get and the profit to be made if it succeeds. As the author summarized, most of them fail within the first five years. I would like to know what more can be done to eliminate such failure. I like that this book is about impacting knowledge, and I look forward to reading it. Thanks for the informative review as usual.

Interesting review and interesting book! I like that it includes all components needed for a solid business plan, and pondering the "unique value proposition" Plus, a huge bonus for targeting small businesses that are more likely than not to fail in the first 5 years!
Thanks for sharing this review!

It's interesting how this idea that anyone (and nowadays, everyone) can and should open a business. Some of us are simply made to be little ants. I don't believe that everyone who has a "dream" of working for themselves really knows the implications of this dream. It's challenging and a job like any other. The smart one is the one who writes a book about it to sell courses.

But this is a debate about the philosophy of the thing! your review is great, thanks!

This is very true. Even our hobbies require a level of planning: buying golf clubs, remembering to take them with you when you go to the club, improving the equipment you already have. This goes for all activities. A short- and medium-term plan can help you feel like you have completed and achieved a goal, whether it is small or large, personal or professional.

What kind of business do you want to have?
Those classic MBA books always help you understand management and leadership, like the famous "The Servant". In my country this book is called "The Monk and the Executive", which I find very funny for a business title.

I think the same as you, Julie Basil! Although I work for myself, I don't intend to open my own business. What's your reason for thinking this way :?:

For me, businesses today require a lot of online presence and social media, which is extremely exhausting and requires you to be willing to invest time in it.

PS: I loved your photo!

This book is very straightforward and also provides a specific approach to home renovation as a business. This requires a lot of money, because you need to do renovations and also buy land!

I like the idea of the book and this line of business. The author seems to have covered everything regarding it. I appreciate the way you highlighted the main headlines discussed in the book. I hope you fulfill your dream soon.

Hi, Catarina. Thank you for leaving comments on my book review and welcome to OBC. Your opinion is important to me and those who are considering reading this book. You are correct. Many who dream of owning a business have no idea how difficult it is to set up, find loyal customers, keep the customers pleased, have a good work and life balance, and make enough money to survive while paying employees and suppliers. This book encourages one to plan and do research before embarking on a business venture.

I don't know why, but lately the idea of starting a business has become mentally exhausting. Perhaps the book provides useful guidance for fans of this type of work. Well done as always Gerry👏🏻
