Review of Understanding Grief Coping with Loss
Many of us have lost someone near and dear during the pandemic, and while time has passed, the question remains: have we truly recovered from the grief? Grief is not only about losing a loved one. What about the grief of unemployment, divorce or breakup, or miscarriage? We experience grief in many ways, each carrying its own weight. Is there any “right” way to grieve? What is the difference between loss and grief?
“Understanding Grief Coping with Loss” by Veronica Hislop helps readers recognize the overwhelming nature of grief and offers practical steps to navigate the healing process. This book is short and practical, offering straightforward advice for those who want to take action to deal with their grief without getting too emotional or spending a lot of time reading. It also explains what can happen if we avoid grief altogether.
What I liked most about this book is how short and to the point it is. It doesn’t drag on unnecessarily, and the message is clear too. Along with that, I found topics like 'Power questions to help change how you feel,' '11 ways to lessen your grief,' and 'when to seek professional help' really helpful. This book gently reminds us that even when grief feels overwhelming, there are healthy ways to cope. It reassures us that while life may not return to what it was like before, we can still find strength to move forward at our own pace.
There was a noticeable formatting error in the PDF version of this book that I read. Many sentences had improper spacing. The words were clustered together, and that made it a bit hard to read the content. The Kindle version was better, but since I was reviewing the PDF and found more than 10 errors, I am rating this book 4 out of 5.
The author says that this book is specifically written for men who might not usually seek help for grief due to societal pressure to hide their emotions and vulnerability. The subheading of this book, “Practical Information for Men Seeking Healing Support and Recovery Dealing with the Loss of a Loved One,” reflects this focus. Even though this book is useful for all readers, regardless of their gender.

Truly, we all have lost people so dear to us and don't really seem to understand the true meaning of grief.... I lost someone so precious few years back ...
The healing process was so hard for me.
I love this review...
