Have a Love Affair with Travel by Evelyn and Natalie Kelly is both a travel guide and a collection of travel stories from a mother and daughter exploring the globe together. Their adventures impressively span seven continents, 88 countries, and 50 states.

The book presents a wealth of travel memories, from visiting breathtaking landscapes and discovering unique traditions to unforgettable experiences like drinking a cocktail with a fermented toe. My favorite part of the book is the last chapter, which provides a full package on how to travel. From planning to staying safe and all the little details that make a trip go smoothly, it doesn't miss anything. As an experienced traveler, I still found plenty of useful advice.

But above all, what I really love about this book is that it promotes the right kind of spirit for travel. There are examples of kindness, lessons about respecting other cultures, and reminders of being a responsible traveler. Through every story, the authors keep encouraging readers to immerse themselves in the culture, history, and local life of wherever they go. It is all about learning and finding meaning while on the road.

The book is easy to digest. Each story is short, engaging, and informative; some made me laugh, others made me cringe, and many made my eyes open. I do wish they were a bit longer. Structurally, the book organizes its narratives by thematic categories such as adventure, nature, and personal growth. Different stories from the same country can be scattered across multiple chapters. That said, I actually prefer a different approach—a more geographically structured arrangement, like grouping those stories by country or continent. This would make my reading experience feel like following a real journey where I can get the whole picture of each country and understand its landscapes, traditions, and people more deeply.

I therefore rate the book 4 out of 5 stars. Apart from that, I greatly enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it to fellow adventurers. The book makes a perfect companion for those who dream of conquering the world.
