Orinthia by Most Everyone is an incredibly descriptive story about a young woman suffering from generalized anxiety disorder. As someone who personally suffers from this disorder, I was especially drawn to this book because of that. And let me tell you, this book did not disappoint. I was immediately captivated by the main character, Orinthia. She is a young woman in college, trying to fight through her constant anxiety as she attends classes and works at a local restaurant. Orinthia is part of a mental health drug trial known as Cerebral Remedium, Inc. They provide free therapy sessions and an experimental medication that is supposed to cure any mental health condition. Orinthia has been a part of the trial for a whole year now, but it doesn’t seem like the medication is working.

Claire is Orinthia’s closest friend, and she is determined to pull Orinthia out of her shell. Orinthia and Claire meander through a store looking for food when an attractive young man gets Orinthia’s attention, Jett. He immediately strikes up a conversation with Orinthia, and they exchange phone numbers. Much to Orinthia’s surprise, Claire urges Orinthia to invite him to a local club with their friends. But what happens at the club sends Orinthia spiraling out of control. Can she overcome her anxiety and live a normal life free of constant worry?

I rate this book four out of five stars. I would have given this book a perfect score, but I encountered some errors while reading. Regardless, the author did an amazing job creating the storyline. The character descriptions were phenomenal. From the very beginning, the author drew me into the story with the description of Orinthia and her mannerisms. The main character was spot on with her representation of anxiety, and I felt as though I was transported directly into the story. I would recommend this book to a mature audience based on the explicit language, but I can see how almost anyone could relate to the characters in the story.

It sounds like a really relatable and heartfelt story, especially with how it portrays the experience of living with anxiety. I appreciate when authors tackle mental health topics with authenticity, and it seems like the character development is particularly strong here. Even with the minor errors, the emotional depth and realistic representation make it something I’d consider reading. It feels like a book that could offer comfort and understanding.
