Illinois Real Estate License Law and Principles is a textbook unlike other textbooks. Written in an engaging manner, the information provided is far from dull and boring. This textbook takes the run-of-the-mill real estate information found in most other textbooks, and turns studying for the real estate exam into an engaging, thoughtful process of deciding if real estate is the career for you. The authors do this by weaving important concepts into interesting examples and creating a very readable format. In addition, there are links to websites that elaborate on the material or share the actual government acts relevant to real estate. This information will be helpful to the person while studying for the exam as well as after passing the exam and beginning a career as a real estate agent.

Another helpful way this text presents information is that it breaks down the categories of information into smaller, more digestible snippets. Each chapter includes a quiz that reinforces the material presented through critical thinking questions that allow the reader to utilize the skills learned. Furthermore, this text contains a lot of information on aspects of real estate that other textbooks ignore but will prove helpful both before and after licensing.

Even though this is a helpful and great addition to the person studying real estate, there are a few editing issues in the text. However, the reader should be able to understand the intention of the authors. In two of the chapter quizzes, test question options include the following test questions along with the corresponding question choices. In the answer key there is a question for which the correct answer is not identified. But given the scope of this text, those mistakes don't take away from the information given to the reader. This book receives a 4 out of 5 star review simply because of the editing mistakes; otherwise, this is a great textbook.
