I'm reading The Loch by Steve Alten, and I'm really enjoying it. It's really good. I just wanted to share.

Finished reading "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" Stieg Larsson, Septembers book of the month, great book. Then read "Hannibal" by Thomas Harris, a disturbing read. Then read "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy, a VERY disturbing read. Am now reading "Bear Island" by Alistair Maclean just for a break. 8)

I couldn't put The Loch down, so now I'm finished it and on to The Subtle Knife. I can't remember what's next on my list, but I think it's A Prayer for Owen Meany.

The Master Butcher's Singing Club by Louise Erdrich is on my bedside table and I'm listening to a scifi novel in the car. I can't remember the name of it.

Now I'm reading A Prayer for Owen Meany, but I'm just not sure about it yet. But I am also reading two series---His Dark Materials and The Keys to the Kingdom---and I'm itching to move on to the next books in those series. I'm trying not to read more than one book at a time.

It's just that my current book is about 200 pages longer than the other books I've been reading. Seems a little overwhelming!

Bloodsucking Fiends by Christopher Moore - I have about 100 pages to go and it's ok. Nothing spectacular. I'll read the follow up book, You Suck at some point though.

Endymion by Dan Simmons - I have only read a few chapters and can't wait to finish Bloodsucking Fiends so I can concentrate on it. I love the Hyperion Cantos. It's so good!

I've started The Fellowship of the Ring by JRR Tolkien. I haven't broken through the ice yet, but I sense I'm going to deeply enjoy this story once I warm up to it a bit.

I loved "The Little Stranger". Some parts in it are so creepy. Did you know that it was short listed for the booker prize this year?

I have just finished reading "Great Expectations" - Charles Dickens. I am now reading "Slaughterhouse-five" - Kurt Vonnegut jnr.

Hi Fran. To be honest, it's been a bit slow going for me. I have about forty pages left.

I've never heard of The Little Stranger, but I will look into it.
