I love learning about different cultures, and we have much to learn from the Aboriginal Australians. I hope books like this help us place the original residents of all continents at the higher standard they deserve. Thank you for your review.

At first glance, this is a book I wouldn't choose, since the cover doesn't catch my attention. However, thanks to this review, I see that it's a book that goes much further. It talks about Aboriginal culture, their beliefs, their ceremonies, and includes a wonderful description of the fauna and flora. The author goes back to the origins of the wisdom of his ancestors to fulfill a promise he made to his loved one. This is where his journey to learn much more about this wonderful ancestral wisdom begins.

Jenni Barnett reminds us that before all this frenetic modernity there was a way of life where everything was intertwined nature spirituality and community.🌱

It amazes me how far the tribes will go to protect their home. Learning about their culture through reading Native Companions is a great experience. Willie's story exemplifies the classic man-versus-nature conflict. Excited to see how it ends!

Thank you for your informative review. I will have to think about reading this. I'm not one for mythology, but I find other people's philosophy interesting. I will hang onto this book since it was free. I liked her writing style and that she explained the meaning of so many words and phrases. I'm glad you enjoyed the book and that the minor errors didn't interfere with your reading. May others enjoy reading this book.

This is a quest to understanding the culture and traditions of the Aboriginal tribes. It goes deeper by also introducing folklore through stories and myths.

This book sounds interesting and I might read it just to know of the Aboriginal culture. I loved that the grandmother didn't want the culture to fade away and made a dying wish to his grandson to research and publish his discoveries

To my shame, I must confess that I am not very knowledgeable regarding the history of Australia, because while I am interested in history, I was mainly concerned on Europe. Therefore, this book, combining two of my passions and bringing to life the legends of the bush, is definitely something I would read. While it might not be based totally on historical accuracy, I hope it will contain enough facts to be not just entertaining, but also educational.
