The reviewer was receptive to this book, giving it a 4-star rating, even though it adopts Christian principles. This shows that although the book is faith-based, it can be read by anyone willing to have an open mind. Thank you for the review.

"The Irrational Fear Cure" by Teri Smith-Pickens is a story about addictions, moods, sleep issues and perceptual disturbances that manifest in weird ways, phobias and health issues. Teri Smith-Pickens wrote this book as a starting point in the recovery process. She found that we live in survival mode that started with the irrational fears we experienced as children. What are obsessive-compulsive behaviors and irrational fears? The author created four steps to overcoming these fears. She cautioned readers to be open-minded since the writings suggest that Christianity is the “true” religion. Being Catholic I believe Christianity is the true religion. This nonfiction faith-based book will provide answers to many questions. The epiphany moment experienced by the author occurred while driving her car and from then on carried a pen and notebook to write down her thoughts on her conversations with God. I read the entire book and was amazed at the knowledge contained in this book. The eight major obsessive-compulsive addictions were thoroughly explained with examples of real-life stories. The 8 addictions are food, sex, religion, gambling, shopping, work, nicotine/caffeine and Internet. People in survival mode require an obsessive-compulsive addiction to fill their void. To cure these addictions, people need to acknowledge their problem and they can use the 12-step process for alcoholics to change their lives.
