I am happy that despite the vicissitudes of life and which are also apparent in the memoir, the author included several happy childhood memories, helping to lighten the mood of the whole book. It is good to see that a positive outlook became key in the author's triumphs, regardless of the outcome.
Many thanks for the amazing, informative review, @Do Thi Huong.

Nice review! It is very hard to care for a parent who is ill and dying. I know, as I have done that. This book sounds like a very heartwarming and sad story of how Karen managed to get through it all. I will have to read it.

I appreciate how you highlighted the emotional journey of the author and the positive, uplifting moments mixed with the sadness. It’s clear that Karen Thiel’s memoir resonates deeply, offering both comfort and inspiration to readers dealing with loss. I agree that the book’s heartfelt and raw writing style makes it a meaningful tribute to her mom and a great way to reflect on the importance of cherishing our loved ones.

Definitely not my cup of tea, not only because I don't like memoirs as a genre, but more importantly because I believe it unbecoming to get privy about the grief and loss of someone's parent. Sorry I prefer to skip, but congrats with BOTD!

Thank you for your review. A book about loss and grief. We all walk this road in life. I liked that she got the chance to care for and live with her mom in her old age. It is a book in which she tells the story; sharing helps her and helps others.

Filled with life lessons and words of advice, today's BOTD is a beautiful memoir in which the author highlights her experiences growing up, being a caregiver, and living out the wisdom her mother shared with her starting at a young age. Having lost my own mom, I think this is something I would like to read, even though I know it's most likely going to be a tearjerker! I like that it's written in a conversational tone, too. Thank you so much for the amazing review! It was very helpful and well-written. 🥰

I admire the author's courage, how she managed to overcome her grief and shared her significant moments and memories of her mother with the world. The book seems like it can help others going through grief due to a loss.

"It will be alright". It is a beautiful lesson I have learnt from the review.
Stories from the heart from the writer resonate more with emotions, especially this one that is describing the qualities of good motherhood.

The author expresses her feelings for her mother through this memoir to cope with her loss and grief. Some readers may find this story relatable and comforting. I'm not interested in the topic at this moment. It is a heartwarming tale but too emotional for me. Thank you for a nice review.
