This book sounds both insightful and thought-provoking, the author taking the reader through the major events of 2022 and offering different perspectives on them. Thanks for the review!
Not exactly the best of the years, considering all that happened and is still happening -- war still ongoing, and many people continue suffering complications of Covid. I'm not sure I want to delve into the details again when events are still so fresh in my mind; maybe in a decade or so it will be interesting to look at the past and compare, but currently I prefer to put it aside for future reference. Congratulations on BOTD!
Remember that the world is not black and white. That many things are in plain sight but we don't notice them because we are distracted or we get carried away by what sounds pretty or easy.
"In Plain Sight" by Susan Mallett is about how the author's perspective shifted things were less recognized during tough year 2022. Because of medical crisis, probably we intentionally left many things under the rock, so here author gives analysis about such events during 2022.
Some facts may not be secret after all, but may be hidden in plain sight that we can't tell it when we see it. "In Plain Sight" by Susan Mallett examines a wide range of issues throwing light on the patterns of world events of 2022. From the pandemic, political upheaval, monarchical death/transition to social unrest and wars, the book covers them all.
It is enthralling how one can gather much information by just paying attention. Susan ballet decision on analyzing the news of the year 2022 enabled her to get deep insight of ongoing events in the world. She did observe patterns of the world events and from the review managed to write about how they unfolded.
I am interested in this book, as I would like to know more about the Ukraine war so that I can follow the events more clearly. Thank you for the review.
This book seems to be the author's documentary on the events of 2022. This can also be an avenue for the author to make annual series of events of the year. That is, I'm expecting to see "In Plain Sight: 2024 Edition" and so on.
"In Plain Sight" by Susan V. Mallett is a book that takes readers through all of the major events that occurred in 2022. Susan Mallett decided in mid-January 2022 to keep a journal of all of the major events and by year-end she realized that she had enough material to write this book. Susan has a career in medicine and her training taught her to question things and insightfully look at them with the aim of observing patterns. She found that behind the news were patterns of stories that were more relevant and give more insights into issues. She started recording events in her journal on January 20th. She details that day’s news, the state of COVID and calls for interventions. She then adds her opinions and analysis of that day’s news. Susan had an amazing ability to break down complex issues into simple facts. Her review of the three prime ministers in the UK that served in 2022 explained the politics behind each PM in an easy-to-understand narrative. Susan’s coverage of the Ukraine War with Russia was so detailed readers could visualize what was happening from the Russian threat of invasion to the escalation of the war. She analyzed the actions of Western and Russian leaders very thoroughly and pointed out their impact on the war’s escalation and the chances for an end to the conflict. She also analyzed the British royal family and the events that occurred in 2022. There were some drawbacks to her writings, especially her interpretation of the events and potential hidden truths without calling what was happening a conspiracy. Her views on vaccinations could easily be described as conspiratorial. This was probably due to not making her claims more compelling and authentic. She needed to provide more evidence to support her analysis. One act of unprofessionalism was her use of the Sleepy Joe nickname Trump gave President Biden. The book was written from a very dominant right-wing view which fit with the Trump MAGA movement. I have always thought that the UK was more left to central politically, but I guess the House of Lords is probably very right-wing. When Trump visited the UK, many Brits laughed at him and there were many baby Trump balloons in the sky by the hotel where the Trumps resided that made fun of Trump. I would think that the things Trump has done in his second term that began 118 days ago have turned more Brits against him. Trump’s tariffs have started a global trade war and this has impacted the UK and all of the European countries. His pulling out of the Paris climate change agreement again and his total lack of understanding Economics makes one wonder what he did at Wharton School of Business where he would have been required to study Economics in order to earn a business degree. His transcripts have never been leaked to the press but I doubt they showed him excelling in anything unless there was lying and cheating involved. Reading and talking at the third-grade level should have disqualified his acceptance to one of the best Ivy League private schools. The book received a 4 out of 5-star rating. Even though I despise the Trump administration and the chaos he has caused, l would like to read the remainder of the book.
Susan V. Mallet's "In Plain Sight" offers a unique and insightful lens on the tumultuous events of 2022, drawing on the author's medical background to uncover hidden patterns and perspectives within the news, inviting readers to reconsider the year's defining moments.
The opening pages of In Plain Sight: 2022 – A Narrative of an Extraordinary Year by Susan V. Mallet offer a compelling introduction to a year marked by significant global events. Drawing from her background in the medical field, Mallet provides a detailed account of the sudden end of COVID-19 restrictions, setting the stage for a broad insight into 2022's complexities . I love her style of writing where she combines factual reporting and personal insights, which makes the book both informative and engaging.
"In Plain Sight" by Susan Mallett sounds interesting, and Susan’s medical background gives her a unique perspective on news. I’m curious to see how she analyzes the year’s major events.
In Plain Sight is an interesting and thought provoking book that analyzes global events that happened in 2022. I appreciate that the book is well structured and that the writing is engaging. This seems like a great book to read. Congratulations on making botd!
I'm glad for this book that helps us to understand what indeed is happening around us. I, for one, still wonder what the Ukraine war is really all about. I like that the author, in her quest to understand things, has shared her findings with us in her book. With a lot seeming to go wrong, knowing what is behind it all helps to settle uncertainties.
"In Plain Sight" by Susan Mallett sounds good because it explains politics and war in a simple way, and I would like to read it to understand what happened with the prime ministers and Ukraine war.
