Tower of Pride by Vnezsa

Post by Misha Vena »

Man stood bold beneath the sky
Equipped with will and stones, thinking far and wide
To build this tower to reach the stars and holy light
Not for God but for their pride

With all the time they have to think
One lofty plan was made, for what’s sake?
For building towers of dust and seeking the crown
Considered themselves rivals of God as the heavens frown

Prideful strides and stacking of bricks
With one heart and one mind to think
Bring the God down or be the God themselves
Forsaking light for dreams with hollow shelves

When the Holy One gazed upon their shameful pride
Broke their speech, scattered far and wide
Now with grand designs that began to wane
Doused the passion of their flames

These ancient times can be our guide
We strive and build, may reach for the sky
His hand is near, guide us back to Him
Reminding us of our rightful place again

In our hearts, the tempt of towers still
Demolished with warmth and love we feel
Through the tale of Babel’s plight,
Learn, be humble and right

It a wonderful book and a lesson which teaches urs to never compare ourselves to the one who created us but instead respect him

The poem is thoughtful and evocative—a reflective retelling of the Tower of Babel story with a strong moral .
