The Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Fallacy by H. Nattanya Andersen critiques the mental health industry's approach to PTSD, arguing that it prioritizes profit over genuine healing. Andersen, a former flight attendant diagnosed with PTSD after a near-fatal incident, exposes systemic flaws in treatment methods and explores alternative paths to recovery

A deeply eye-opener book, especially for someone like me in the legal field. The author blends personal experience with solid research to challenge conventional PTSD treatments. I particularly appreciated the book’s clear, jargon-free style and its courageous questioning of the mental health system. I recommend this book for anyone wanting a fresh, human-centered perspective on trauma.”

I enjoyed the sample I read, it was professionally edited and well written. Enjoyed the point of view the book was written in. Having PTSD myself, I was able to relate to how the author felt. Mine was from being in 6 car accidents in 6 months. Which not the level watching a plane explosion but I can relate.

H. Nattanya does not deny that PTSD is real on the contrary she shows it as a silent nightmare but she does believe that sometimes the medical system complicates it more than it helps.🍄

The book details survivors of plane crashes who suffer from PTSD and what jobs are at increased risk of PTSD. The author overcame PTSD. I am interested to read this book, as it's always encouraging to read about victory over personal battles.

Definitely not my cup of tea, because even though at one time I was quite interested in studying PTSD, it is no longer the subject of my interest. Still, knowing the seriousness of this condition, I congratulate the author for reaching BOTD!

The Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Fallacy" by H. Nattanya Andersen is a memoir on overcoming PTSD. Indeed, emotional and unseen wounds are always the hardest to treat, but the easiest to create.

This book completely flipped how I view PTSD and the way the mental health system handles trauma. It didn’t sugarcoat anything and honestly, that’s what made it hit so hard. It digs into how PTSD has been overused, misdiagnosed, and in a lot of ways, turned into a business. That was uncomfortable to read, but also kind of empowering.

It made me stop and think are we actually helping people heal, or are we keeping them stuck in the system for profit? This book doesn’t offer all the answers, but it definitely asks the right questions. It’s not gentle, but if you’re ready to look at things from a different angle and challenge some of the standard narratives, it’s worth the read. Just be ready, it’s blunt and bold, and it doesn’t hold back.

What a captivating subject. It's hard or shall I say impossible to imagine what people with PTSD are going through. So I applau the author for writing about this, as it must've been quite difficult to do so. Thanks for a detailed review. Congrats on BOTD.

I agree—the examples at the beginning were quite specific, and I think they were chosen to make PTSD more relatable by grounding the topic in real-life scenarios. As for your question about the genre, I’d say this book falls under nonfiction, but with autobiographical elements. While it includes the personal experiences, it’s mainly intended to inform and educate rather than serve as a full autobiography.

The title sounds intriguing. I want to know more about this because I feel like everything I know so far is not helpful enough. Will definitely give this a try.

PTSD is often not taken seruously because it has no visible symptoms, only the sufferer knows the ordeal they go through. While on the outside one may look lazy or incompetent, but in reality they are suffering from ptsd. I hope to learn more about this from the book. Thank you for a wonderful review!

This book traces Nattanya’s path from a traumatic ordeal through the challenges of PTSD treatment, ultimately arriving at the powerful insight that true healing comes from within—through resilience and unwavering determination. The font was quite small, I noticed. Still, the reviewer painted a vivid picture of what lies ahead.
