A Search for Truth was a very engaging book with many thought-provoking point of views on multiple religions. I thought the story line was captivating and loved that it was not always predictable. I enjoyed the characters and their different backgrounds of religious beliefs. The love story between the main character and her fiancé could have been a bit more personal, and they never addressed his excitement for learning more about their newly found religion. I felt the author did a good job sharing the differences between the religions, and drew you in so deeply you could believe the author themself had experienced most of these religions in their own lifetime, and as I read on, I realized they had.

I felt many times throughout the book that the details of some of the many life events that occurred in the writing may have been just a bit overkill for me. Understanding that the author wants you to feel as though you were experiencing that particular moment, I believe that the excessive descriptions down to which silverware they were using, took me off track a few times as to what we were about to encounter. I applaud her detail for drawing us into each setting, but again for me, it was just a bit too much.

I gave the book a 3 out of 5 rating due to the excessive descriptions that led me down a rabbit hole before returning me to the actual topic. Also, near the end when the author is sharing her newly found religious beliefs, she lost me a few times with the excessive amount of scripture and religious opinions, along with the massive amount of details of the history and doctrine of the religions they had experienced throughout the book. I believe a bit less information would have had a greater impact. I honestly fell asleep while reading that section.

I did enjoy the Sinners Prayer being printed in the book allowing those who were moved to re-establish their walk with Christ, or even begin their walk, or maybe even take a new path from a past religion, had an open invitation to easily get started.

If you are on a true search for a closer walk with God and you have no idea where to start, you may find this book very helpful, or very annoying. Helpful in the sense that she describes a few of the many religions just enough for you to be curious, but annoying because the differences between these specific religions spoke of in the book is great, making it very difficult to know what this walk with God is truly about.

I don't believe I was ever paid the $5 for this review. Is there a step I am missing?
