Returning home from the gym to take her 17-year-old daughter, Noel, to school, 33-year-old Kaitlyn Daley is involved in a hit-and-run accident half a mile from her house. The occupants of the other car ran away on foot, leaving her trapped in the car with severe injuries. After multiple surgeries and procedures, Kaitlyn wakes up dependent on others for all her needs, as she is unable to walk or talk. This begins the author's long journey of physical and emotional struggles that profoundly change their life. Grab a copy of "In the blink of an eye: A story of resilience and survival" by Kaitlyn Daley to learn about her life before and after her horrifying accident. Did Kaitlyn's life ever get back to normal? Why did the occupants of the other vehicle run away instead of helping her?

I enjoyed all aspects of this book. Kaitlyn Daley has excellent writing skills that keep the story flowing between chapters. Each character in the book was fully developed with a distinct purpose. Her parents, friends, and Noel's actions were all easy to relate to, as were the author's feelings of grief, pity, anger, frustration, etc., which are common in all types of trauma. The author's honesty, humor, and discretion in sharing her story were evident throughout the book. One example of humor was the reason Kaitlyn gave for waking up unable to talk. One of my favorite takeaways from the author's story was their need for other people to understand what they were going through without judgment. I appreciate the author's courage and strength in sharing their story to help others know they are not alone in their struggles to recover from trauma. Several bullet points at the end of the book provide guidance and inspiration.

This exceptionally well-edited book has no errors or any negative aspects that would prevent it from getting a perfect rating of 5 out of 5 stars. The author has honestly told their story about the accident, their injuries and their impact on them and their family, the investigation, and the trial.

Anyone who is suffering from a traumatic brain injury or has had their choices redefined by someone else's actions will benefit from this book. I will caution sensitive readers that this book does contain non-borderline profanity.
