Anticipation Day by Jeff Michelson

It’s clear that the author put a lot of work into this novel. The research and details shown for the many locations throughout this interesting tale transform you to truly feel like you’re traveling with the characters.

Anticipation Day shoots us to the future, starting in the year 2030. Dr. Joshua Lee is gearing up to present his speech to the Special Committee on Artificial Intelligence, a subset of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Privacy, Technology, and the Law. This speech could make or break the Anticipation Day Task Force. They had worked tirelessly to create a new simulation experience for citizens of the United States. Joshua reminisced about the years that brought him to this day.

Eleven months later, United States of America President Randolph signed the Anticipation Day bill. During his speech, we meet Dr. Claudine Shanley, whose research into schizophreniform disorder among wealthy individuals led to the creation of Anticipation Day. She leads us back in time to her revelations.

The story picks back up in 2032, where we meet a group of friends who are getting ready to do the Anticipation Day experience. The author gives us a well-written introduction to their lives and relationships. We experience many of their simulations.

I loved reading this book. The story was exciting and filled with a multitude of adventures. The author is brilliant! I rated it four out of five. I took off one star for some editor errors and a few inconsistencies. For example, in one part of the book, Alexandra confesses that she and Clarise experimented sexually together while in college, and further in the book it changes to Alexandra and Maryann experimenting sexually together while in college. Another example is that first it’s indicated that Patrick’s children’s names are Joey and Anna and later changed to Brin and Anna.

Other than the inconsistencies, the only content I would have changed with this story is selfishly I would have liked to have read about David and Clarise’s simulations.

I feel that this story is catered to an adult audience due to the sexual content and profanity.
