Jim Hampton, a lawyer who spent the last fifteen years of his career representing businesses in cases involving chemical spills and other disasters, recently quit his job and moved to his friend George's house in New Orleans in search of something he feels is missing from his life but is unsure of exactly what it is. This is the plot of John Robert Still's suspenseful and mysterious story "Intercessor" .

As soon as Jim arrives in New Orleans, he senses something odd about the people. It seems like a storm is coming, and after Hurricane Katrina, the people are very unsettled at the prospect of experiencing something similar again. Jim spends his days in bars and walking the streets, talking to people. This is how he meets Myriam, a waitress at one of the bars. They immediately hit it off, and she invites him to accompany her to visit her family the next day.

After dropping off Myriam at her house, he decides to have one last drink before going home. He enters a bar where he meets Erin and Sheila, two attractive women who invite him to a party with them. However, when they arrive at the party, he realizes that there is no party; it's just a place where they charge him one thousand dollars for their time. Confused and scared by the shady place where they took him, he apologized for the misunderstanding. However, Erin became enraged. Her voice deepened as she yelled insults at him, demanding that he pay them for entertaining him. When he refused, the threats continued. He managed to ran away. However, Erin is still angry and doesn't seem to be letting it go. What will happen to Jim and this strange woman? What will happen with the storm heading to New Orleans and all the great people Jim met there?

Jim will encounter a lot of individuals while he is in New Orleans, some of whom will be wonderful and others who will be quite different from what they appear to be. Everyone will make small changes to his life until he experiences an internal transformation. The trip everyone can take in life is my favorite aspect of the book. But not everyone is receptive to or comprehends the guidance and insights that others might offer us.

From the book's cover, the author promises a story full of mystery and suspense, and he delivers. He involves readers in a world of mystery and horror, creating a sense of stress and the feeling that something terrible is after us.

This book receives a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. The author's description of the feelings in Jim is amazing, from his scared moments with Erin or the hope he feels with Myriam and the vivid description of the environment that made me feel like I am also part of the scene is incredible. The book was also well-edited; I could not find any errors. There is nothing I dislike about the book.

I recommend this book to fans of mystery and religious stories. Due to its strong language and references to alcoholic behavior, prostitution and drugs, the book is more suitable for an adult audience.

You've perfectly captured the novel's suspenseful atmosphere and Jim's intriguing journey of self-discovery in a post-Katrina New Orleans. It's fascinating how the author uses his encounters, from the unsettling Erin to the hopeful Myriam, to drive his "internal transformation." Your praise for the vivid descriptions and flawless editing makes me want to pick this up immediately. Thanks for sharing!

It is good to read that the book not only a nice plot, and it, undoubtedly, sounds really interesting, but that the execution is amazing and that editing is exceptional. I would like to know what happens to Jim eventually. Thank you, @Kristine Mariel Diaz, for the review.
