Have you ever had the feeling someone was watching you? Have you ever felt shivers running up your spine, but you don't know why? In the book Digital, by Calvin D. Atchison, we meet Shaun Wilson and his wife Carol. Shaun is a federal agent who recently transferred from Washington, D.C., to the Cyber Crime Unit in Atlanta, Georgia. He starts receiving cryptic messages about himself and his wife, and realizes that someone has hacked into his work and home computers. Hold onto your hat as we follow Shaun and his partner, Agent Sharon Goldberg, as they try to stop dangerous criminals before it's too late.

The book Digital is an interesting read. It taught me a few things about staying safe in our digital world. I was also saddened to think about all the people in our society who are victims of hackers. How shameful is it to make a buck by stealing it from someone else?

Although I enjoyed the story, I noticed a few areas that the author could improve to make it even better. The first would be the dialogue. When there is back-and-forth dialogue, it can be challenging to follow at times. The author placed each sentence of dialogue in quotation marks and on a separate line, even when two consecutive sentences are from the same character. Since he doesn't often indicate who said it, it can become confusing. Another improvement would be to have less detail about unimportant topics and more detail about the pertinent ones. The final area is transitions. In Chapter Eight, for example, the author begins with two paragraphs about Shaun, then writes about someone else, and then returns to Shaun. That's all fine, but there usually isn't a space between paragraphs to let the reader know immediately that it's a different character's story. Nor are there recognizable transition words to alert the reader of the change.

I give the book Digital, by Calvin D. Atchison, a rating of 3 out of 5 stars. With proper editing and addressing the areas mentioned above that need improvement, this book would get a perfect rating.

I recommend this book to mature readers with an interest in cybersecurity, as there are explicit sex scenes and profanity.

The story sounds really thrilling and one can only hope that the criminals will be stopped before they cause more harm. The digital era has definitely brought about both good results and also opened more doors for those who seek to cause harm. I hope that the areas that require another round of editing will be edited. This sounds like a gripping concept, especially with the focus on cybersecurity and hacking. Definitely a relevant topic today. I appreciate how the review points out both the strengths and areas for improvement. It’s good to know what to expect with the transitions and dialogue.
