What else can you ask for?

Can friendships overcome betrayal? Can love overcome betrayal? Can secrets change someone's life forever? Can it change it in a good way? That's what Charlotte and her best friend Nichole have to find out after ten year without seeing each other and a invitation to collaborate in Nichole's cookbook brings them back together to uncover the secrets one of them kept all those years.
Sweet Salt Air is an emotional roller-coaster with all the elements a contemporary fiction should have. Barbara Delinsky is a master storyteller. I love the setting, how can anyone not love it?, an isolated coastal island at summer full of magic and beauty. The characters Charlotte, Leo, Nichole, Julian tugged at my heart. The way the author illustrates how each of the characters are makes you end up caring and loving them. I was caught in this passionate and invigorating love story from the beginning. I wanted to be there in the island breathing the Sweet Salt Air with the crispness of the ocean and the magic of summer love. I love how Charlotte, who believed she wasn't made to love and be loved, found true love in the place where she less expected it. And, it seems the some friendship are too strong to be destroyed even when there are terrible secrets and betrayal from one of them. Sometimes secrets have to be reveal in other to move on. Love will always be triumphant. The lack of momentum to the story was the only thing that I found wrong about the story, but other than that, it was great. Delisnsky did a marvelous job on describing the struggles, fears, and pain an illness can bring. I love the ending because as Charlotte said "I like my fiction happy". I'm looking forward to reading more from Barbara Delinsky. This story will melt your heart and take your breath away. 4.5 emotional stars
