Is anyone reading Mr Mercedes? I'm reading it on kindle so couldn't give a page number but think I'm about 1/4 way through. I don't think Brady Hartsfield is the Mercedes killer, does anyone else agree with me? Please don't tell me the ending if you've read the whole book.
My wife absolutely loves Stephen King. So far she has read 54 of his books and short story collections. She is addicted to his message board, and many of her friends reside there. As for me, I've thought a couple of his books were excellent (1st half of the Stand comes to mind, and the Shining), but he doesn't seem to put as much thought and care into polishing his work as other authors I like better.
My 9 year old son (he was 8 then) got hooked on the CBS show "Under the Dome" last summer, catching an episode when we stopped at a hotel on a roadtrip. Upon further research of the show, I found out it was based on a recent Stephen King story. I have always been a fan of his (unfortunately of the written word, I can't watch any movies based off his books) and was surprised that my son wanted to start reading him so young after watching a show. I thought that was awesome. Yet, at the same time, I don't know if I should let him read the books. His books are a completely different beast to tackle then a show based off a book. Any advice or suggestions on this matter welcome.
I've read a number of Stephen King books and really like his writing. Now, I've got to say that I absolutely LOVED his 11/22/63! Not in the same vein as his other writing but it still has moments of making you feel uncomfortable and weird. His writing is so alive and vivid - you feel like you're part of the story. I recommend this book to anyone who asks for one!
I've read less than a handful of King in my lifetime, but have thoroughly enjoyed everything that I've picked up so far. I believe the first work of his that I've read was "Cell", which was an interesting take on "zombies" in my opinion. After realizing how many films I've seen over the years that were based on his writing, I picked up a copy of his non-fiction "On Writing", which was a lovely read that I highly recommend. I've got a copy of Mr. Mercedes in my room that I have not quite been ready to tackle yet, but am looking forward to the ride when I do.
Steven King is one of my favorite authors. He is a child of the sixties and it really comes through in some of his best work in my opinion. He not only knows how to scare people, but he knows how to really connect to childhood innocence. I also love how several of his stories overlap. His world is connected so you will see other characters of his pop up in other books. He is a master at foreshadowing, which sometimes drives me crazy. I don't want too much to be given away but it happens on occasion. Hearts in Atlantis is one of my most loved and treasured books. (The movie was a joke, don't base your opinion of the book if you have never read it on this terrible movie. Please read it) I loved to be scared, but I truly love his other stories better.

I just got done reading Carrie. It was the first book I have ever read by Stephen King, and I thought it was amazing! I could hardly put the book down! I think he is a very good author and hope to read more of his books soon.
