Fantasy books like road to magic and into the abyss (Astlan)

I recently read The Road to Magic by Alexey Glushanovsky and Into The Abyss (Demons of Astlan Book 1) by J. Langeland and loved them both so I'm wondering if anyone can recomend any books that have the same feeling.

The things I liked best were how both main characters kind of took charge of their own destinies and how they both gradually became stronger. Also the demon POV :twisted: is fun to think and read about. 8)
