My mother and my sister talk about her books all of the time. They aren't really my thing, but this is one of the few times that I prefer to watch the movie over reading the book.

Nora Roberts is a great author and very prolific. Hard to say where to start but I like her older books best. She had some great trilogies and a few that kept going into the next trilogy like the Vegas trilogy and Texas. There was a third set with another branch of the family I think it was Kentucky.

You can't go wrong with Nora! Carolina Moon was the first book I read by her and it had me hooked from the get. There is romance in all of Nora's books but what sets them apart from the "trashy romance novels" is the fact there is always an unexpected twist, or a serious plot of some sort. I cannot recommend her enough! The Key series is spectacular...Key of Light, Key of Knowledge and Key of Valor.

She is one of my all time favorite authors and Ive read everything she's written except her new one - The Collector- . Wow, choosing
which one to start with. Thats a toughie! Her Bride Quartet are good romance ones. The Inn Boonsboro is also romance with just a touch of paranormal. The Three Sisters Island trilogy is really good (the 1st one is Dance Upon the Air). The Sign of Seven trilogy (1st one is Blood Brothers) and of course her newest are Dark Witch and Spellbound ( The Cousins O'Dwyer Trilogy) . The last in that trilogy comes out the end of October.

One of the things I love about her writing is, when the story is set or travels to Ireland, her writing is so descriptive, that you could almost close your eyes and imagine yourself standing on those lush green hills and smell the peat burning. :D Whats also nice is that she has multiple stand alones and aside from the Bride quartet, her series' are always only trilogies. Enjoy! I think you'll really like her :)
