I don't know what the best book ever would be, varies by opinion.

But people should really not use a discussion of books to shove religion down peoples throat by pimping the book of their religion. We get it, you love God and his Word. Now let's talk about everything else in the world and leave that for your personal circle.

How did this thread go from rating books on the website the person posted at the start of the thread to an, "I love the Bible/I hate Christianity and religion debate"?

I'm a student at middle school, and my favorite books that we have read are The Christopher Killer Series, and I'd Tell You I Love You But Then I'd Have To Kill You. My friends like the Christopher Killer Series the best but, the I'd Tell You I Love You But Then I'd Have To Kill You, seems more popular with the kids. I do know that there are a large, average, number of schools, that read The Christopher Killer Series.
Good luck at finding books and I hope this helps,

P.S. I don't really want to get involved with this bible subject. I think that we should be talking about books, not christ and religion. This is what the sites about, books. If you want to go debate go to a degate forum.

Well in all honesty, christ is the main character in the best selling book of all time... and the first amendment does cover our right to discuss anything...and also protects the books we read, so should cover our freedom of speech too...its just a discussion, which is REALLY what this website is all about...

My point was that the original post was a request for people to go rate books on the website the person had set up. The Bible wasn't on that list so I was wondering how it went from that to a huge debate about religion. I just thought it was funny (I also think you aren't responding to my post--hehe).

Douglas Adams Hitchikers guide to the universe series. Great books. Also, Mery Shellys Frankenstein was also great in my opinion. Two of the best books I have ever read.

both hitchhikers and mary shelley are awesome. most things that are considered "classics" are worth a read, though most of them require a bit of acclimation (i still dont like dickens, for instance)

i was actually amused about the religion debate myself...but i do love debating and will take any opportunity i get :)

It is so hard for a dedicated reader to pick one book as the "Best Book Ever". If you are a dedicated reader your choice of "Best Book Ever" will move from day to day, week by week as you read and grow as a reader. So what you loved when you were fifteen you still might love at sixty, but in between you may have found hundreds of "Best Books Ever". I know I have.

I've read the 'The Bible Story' by Arthur Maxwell. It's great because it is illustrated nicely and also talks about the scriptures. Best for kids to me. It's not wrong to read the bible anyway. It only depends on how great is your faith. My, we're getting serious here. :)
