I agree about the ending. Shocking and sad.kairkyn wrote:The only book I've read by an Indian author is "A Fine Balance" by Rohinton Mistry. This is an excellent book, but I think it has the saddest ending of any book I have ever read in my entire life.

The only other one I read of his was "Family Matters." It was good, but it didn't stay with me like "A Fine Balance" did. I should really read some of his others. You've inspired me to go look them up!kairkyn wrote: What are his other books like?

I heard that his first one, "Such a Long Journey", was really good. I think I will pick that one up too!Carrie R wrote:The only other one I read of his was "Family Matters." I felt the same about this book. Loved the characters.LC Erickson wrote:Last year I read "Tiger Hills" by Sarita Mandanna. It is an epic family saga that spans several decades and is filled with beautiful imagery and detailed character development. I couldn't put this book down and when I had finished it, I continued to think about the story and the characters for days afterwards.
