Make Your Idea an App Store App - 8 Secrets Behind Creating a Successful Mobile App is written by Michael Austin Jacobs who is a young bright entrepreneur. As I have had the idea in the past to try to design an App for the iTunes App store I was very interested to read this book and get as much knowledge as possible before embarking on my own endeavour. It was a very short book which I was able to read through in just over 30 minutes.

After reading this "book" (20 pages) I don't feel I know much more than when I started. For this reason I am officially rating this book 2 out of 4 stars although it might be worth 2.5 stars to someone who knows absolutely nothing about the procedure of getting an App into the App store. I don't know much but I do know a little.

My first reason for the rating is that most of what he says is very general, the things that someone who has thought about it would already realize. Such as step 1 is to come up with an idea. I wonder if you would be bothering to develop an App if you didn't have an idea? That step seemed redundant. Also there is no depth or detail. I will give you an example. One of the steps is to get a developer (if you don't know how to write code yourself). Yes I realize I will need to get someone to write it for me as I don't know code ( similar to the author) What I would have appreciated here was how to go about finding someone to write the program. Suggest some sources or how he found the person/ team to write for him. I found myself asking the same things throughout the book - "Can you be more specific? Can you tell me where and/or how to do this or find this?"

It is my opinion that he needs to go into more detail with each step and explain words/terms he uses. He mentions a D-U-N-S number. Maybe everyone in the US knows what this is (I am from Canada so that might explain it) but I have a feeling that if they have not been in business they quite possibly don't.

Another thing that bothered me occurred in the last step which is about marketing. He gives a very general overview again and then states that he will say more on this in his next book. I expected it to be covered in this book. I checked on Amazon and this book costs $3 - $4 (depending on where you are). This was just a 20 page book which is quite a bit to pay for so little information and I certainly wouldn't pay for a second book at that price for so little information. I am glad that I received this book free to review because I would have been very disappointed to have paid that price for so little information.

Finally there is one more thing that bothers me. He tells the steps he went through to have his App placed in the App store and tells us how it outsold the competition in the first week. I went to the App store to get his App and it isn't there. I checked out his website and YouTube videos. They are all about the Law of Abundance. Nothing about his App that is about Social Media. I would be cautious of following the advice of someone on how to get an App in the iTunes App store that doesn't appear to have one there himself.

I would only recommend you buy this book if you don't mind spending over $3 for a 20 page book that is very general and will not give you and real practical tips on how to get your App in the App store.

Great review!

The title of this book caught my eye, and I wondered if it was just another selfie written to make the author some money or if it had real information in it. I guess I know the answer now and can save my money.

Thanks for the review. When I read the title, I was interested. After reading your review, it doesn't seem worth it. Thanks for your input.

Thank you for the review.

Paying $3.99 for a 20 page book seems a bit over the edge.
