Roald Dahl engulfed me in his literature from the start and I can't wait to re-read all of his books with my kids! So I guess he would have to be my favorite.

1. Louie L'amour - Yes he did write more than westerns and they were all very good reads.

2. Michael Critchton - Did a fantastic amount of science based research before and during writing all of his fiction (and some non-fiction) novels. You can tell he knows what he's writing about e.g Jurassic Park, Congo, and The Terminal Man.

3. Diana Gabaldon - It's like a never ending amped bed time story (which is how she got started telling her sister bedtime stories as a kid).

4. S. T. Russell - Fun on the high seas in the middle of the French-English war where sea warfare was the only war fare.

My two favorite authors would have to be George R.R. Martin and J.R.R. Tolkien. Cliche, maybe, but it is what it is. I'm a fantasy nerd.

Maybe Anne Rice, but there are certainly others who top the list as well :)

Too hard! Toni Morrison, Margaret Atwood, Ian McEwan, Stephen King, Agatha Christie to name a few.

Generally my favorite author changes, but for the longest time my favorite has been Marcia Lynn McClure.
She writes romance novels and self-publishes. She has her own website where you can buy her books or enter a monthly drawing for prizes.
Her books are clean but still get your heart thumping.
I was so exited when I discovered that our library had some of her books, I never get tired of reading them.

This is quite difficult, but I would have to say Tolkien and Shelby Foote are my two favorites. And by favorite I mean an author that I keep going back to on a consistent basis.

I would have to narrow it down to Ted Dekker, Steven James, Edgar Allen Poe, Robert Liparulo, C.S. Lewis, and Charles Dickens.

Haruki Murakami, if I had to pick one. I have a harder time picking a second choice, though.

At the moment it's Sartre. I've been reading for a book award and the intellectual quality has made me long for Sartre. Otherwise I'd go for Hilary Mantel or Rose Tremain.
