That's why my Medusa wears reflective sunglasses.rssllue wrote:Gorgon is one of the most interesting to me. Of course, don't look that Medusa in the eyes, it could end badly!

I also think that Gamera was a pretty cool creature. Anyone know him? So cute!

Female seals who fall in love with a sailor or fisherman and coming ashore, to be with the man, turn into a human woman but if she ever puts as much as a toe in the ocean she will immediately turn back into a seal. There are numerous stories and songs that celebrate the selkies in Irish, Scottish and Iceland legends - most are beautiful but very sad with the seal woman invariably going back to the sea to rescue her fisherman husband or child.
I have to second this.
This is a subject that never gets as much attention as it deserves.
I love them and would love if they were focused on more.
What is grief, if not love persevering?
Grief is just love with no place to go.

That is an awesome creature! I have never heard of this, but I love it already! Can they turn back to a woman if they just come out of the water and dry off again? Or is it like a one-time deal?Fran wrote:Living on the West coast of Ireland, I have to go with selkies. No I'm afraid not, they only get the one chance. Here's a little bit of detail for you, Enjoy. (Quality is a bit dodgy!)ALynnPowers wrote:That is an awesome creature! I always dug Athena, or Minerva. I call her the goddess of common sense. She got Odysseus out of some rough scrapes and some of those other ancient Greek guys who got into deep doo-doo because they were idiots.suzy1124 wrote:Athena, Greek Goddess of Wisdom...
