I read this book last year, as a reader this book is 735 pages long and I finished it in a day and a half. The book for me totally entranced my thoughts and I could hardly put it down. This book is rather old and they just made it into a movie and guess what? I despised that movie.. They left out so many important details and the story line was just frail. In comparison the book is beautifully written and unlike the movie completely and totally will blow you away. From the gripping action, to the overbearing fear that something bad might happen, or the elation when something good does happen.. I'm not going to ruin the ending for you but if you can manage to make it through the second book (Gathering Blue which is a rather slow book compared to the first) you will not regret reading this imaginative book. The last book ties all of the four together so perfectly that you may just cry with joy by the end. Definitely one of the best reads I've had in a while.

More discussions to come and happy reading!,

I read The Giver a lot in middle school and high school and only recently read the rest of the quartet. I enjoyed it, but in my opinion none of the rest of the series holds a candle to The Giver. I love the simplicity of it and the self-contained nature of it. I was curious to know more, of course, but sometimes that curiosity is better left unsatisfied.
