Wickedly Dangerous, Baba Yaga series by Deborah Blake review
The cruel crone whose wooden shack walks on chicken legs?
The Russian version of a fairy godmother who will help you...for a price?
Well, meet Baba Yaga, 2.0
Barbara Yager, aka Baba Yaga, lives in a magical Airstream trailer, drives a magical motorcycle, and lives with a large pitbull...who's actually a small dragon.
She travels the country helping those who call on her, selling magical cures as holistic treatments, and guarding one of the gates to the Otherworld.
Until she ends up in a small southern town with a mystery to solve and a sheriff that throws her off balance.
Sheriff Liam McClellen is at a loss, three children taken in six months, and no leads to speak of.
His heart already broken from the loss of his own baby girl, left to mourn alone by his wife who ran off, and now his job is in danger if he can't find the children.
Meanwhile the town is in turmoil over fracking.
This may seem to be all very random...trust me it's not.
Baba shows up on the outskirts of town.
She doesn't know who called her, or why, but she's there to help...one way or another.
This is a paranormal romance with an urban fantasy feel.
It's a tame romance which is getting more and more rare.
It's not the most difficult mystery to solve but this is one of the funnest books I've read lately.
This isn't a deep book. I don't think it was ever supposed to be.
It does use fracking, maybe to make a point...maybe not. I can say it's used in an interesting way.
This has fun humor, an interesting take on the fae, and a man who doesn't always think he can do better.
That's not to say he doesn't have his idiot moments...
I won't say everyone should read this book.
I will say if you like a fun, easy, romance with magic and mayhem...you'll probably enjoy this book.
If you like Baga Yaga...this is an interesting take on the old girl.
If you like poetic justice...this is the perfect example.
I enjoyed this book.
I fell in love with the characters.
It broke my heart to find out the second book would be about different characters.
I'm still looking forward to reading it.

I needed a few good laughs as I was reading this and it delivered.
And the fae Queen is a little bit psycho...as all good fae Queens should be.
Like I said...it is very light.
Sometimes I need a little light subject reading.
Something that's more like a snack than a four course dinner.
This is, for sure, a tasty snack!

Sometimes I feel like my life is already deep enough without me making it deeper by reading books that are too deep. Wow, I used the word "deep" a lot in that sentence.
But, no, really, with my hectic schedule with work and writing, plus drama in my family, I seriously don't like to read books that are too deep. I like light reading to keep me happy.
