I really wanted the Kindle because carrying the Kindle helps to preserve my paperbacks from becoming ruined, earmarked, or torn, etc...sometimes my paperbacks would get stained, bent, ripped out, etc......I do find it much better to read with the Kindle!
I agree and second with that!

I read much faster on the Kindle than I do a real book. I think this is partly due to the fact that I make the print large on my Kindle which helps reduce the eye strain. Also the kindle is more comfortable to hold. There are dots under each title in my Kindle. As you read the dots begin to turn dark. This gives me a very clear view of how long a book is and how far I have to go (along with the percentage at the bottom of the pages as you read. I am also not as intimidated by a large book, as I would be if I were actually holding the book (ie War and Peace)!

I read very fast in both formats, but I prefer paperbacks/hardcovers, because they don't bother my eyes so much. I find myself squinting when I read on e-readers. That being said, I used to have a Kindle keyboard, before it had all the fancy lights, and I LOVED it! That one didn't bother me so much, and then it died on me. If I could have another one of those and have it last for a long time, I would immediately buy it! But, alas, I won't be giving any more money to that cause for a while...life takes up too much money for that, unfortunately.

Paperbacks because I can take them everywhere with me. I like my Kendal but there is nothing like the feel of a book in my hands for me. Also I sometimes have to fight over the Kendal at home, bring it places and it's dead etc. I actually love hardback books the most.

I think an ebook.

BUT, I really do like the feel of a book in my hands and on display in my bookcase.

Can't seem to get over that goody, goody book-in-my-hand feeling.

Never timed it, but I'd guess about the same amount of time; maybe a little faster on ebooks. I love e-books. They cost less, take up less space, and I can read in the dark. On the flip side, I enjoy having my hands on the actual book. I tend to reserve paperbacks (or hardbacks) for my most favorited authors; it's like a treat to possess "the real thing".

I find I read a paperback faster but I think it's only because I enjoy a paper back much more than an e-book.

I don't think I read any different on either one, but I prefer my Nook over paperback for sure.

I seem to read books on my kindle quicker than paperback. It's hard for me to read paperbacks anymore because I'm so used to the convenience of my e-reader.

I can read at the same speed on both. However I find that I finish a paperback faster just due to the fact it doesn't need to be plugged in. I have an older Nook Color and the battery just doesn't seem to last as long.

I read faster on paper. I think its because my contacts make my eyes light sensitive. My tablet has to be set on the lowest light setting. The fastest I read my tablet is when I am sitting in the bath tub with all the lights out. lol.

Well, Kindle shows how far I am into the book, so it kinda motivates me to keep reading for longer than I would with a real book. But I don't see much of a difference.

I find that paper takes me longer. Not because it takes me longer to actually read on paper but because I take it fewer places with me (due to size, weight, inconvenience compared to my kindle or my smart phone) and thus, have more limited time to read it.
