I remember one called The Cheaters from the 1940's with Billie Burke, I dont remember who else was in it. About a dysfunctional family who took in a homeless man who showed them the true meaning of Christmas. Good show, not sappy lake some shows like that are.

Um... it would be Home Alone (the original) or The Family Stone. Both of those movies make me laugh and cry, a lot!

There was once (1966) a Hallmark Hall Of Fame production (made for TV movie) called A Christmas Memory which was based upon true events in the childhood of Truman Capote. I thought then, and still believe, that it was one of the finest productions of a Christmas story I have ever seen which led me to find the story in its original form.
The text story, which was originally written by Capote as a short story, can be found at the following URL and is well worth the read. I am a "short story aficionado" and this is one of, if not THE, most perfectly written short stories I have ever read in my entire life. If authoring this story was the only thing of significance I had ever done in my life I could die content. It is a privileged and beautiful peek beneath the skin of an author who was never known for his sentiment.

It's a wonderful life!
Such a wonderful movie of courage and self-sacrifice for the greater good. Its a movie I can watch over and over and is guaranteed to tug at my heart strings. Harry Bailey toasting his brother at the the end of the movie "the richest man in town!" shows that life is not quantified by how much money you have, but what you've done with your life that matters.
