Journey from being a book reviewer to a writer.

Post by briggs_cm2014 »

How did reviewing books help you in your journey of writing your own book?
I would appreciate hearing your thoughts and experiences, as I also aspire to write my own book in the future... Thank you!

I'm not in the process of writing a book right now, but becoming a book reviewer has done so much for my confidence as a writer. I was going through a really rough time before I found the online book club (I suffer from depression), and finding this site was like being thrown a life preserver. I love the experience that being a book reviewer provides--I can see myself writing a book in the future, or perhaps writing for a newspaper.

I know that this isn't exactly the type of reply that you were looking for, but I wanted to throw in my two cents. This online community provides so much for aspiring writers and has been a positive influence in my life.

If you want to be a writer, why are you waiting?

Everyone has a story to tell, so write it down. If your waiting for more education on writing before starting, DON'T! You can always go back an fix things after your thoughts are captured.

If your worried about the process, you can always start small and work your way up to a full length story.

Ive wondered the same thing! Ive had this enjoyably nagging idea to write for as long as I can remember but when I read a book Im intimidated by the complexities writers put into their stories. I adore everything about reading and feel compelled to start to write, but when I think about trying the confidence is not there.

Hoping when Im given the chance to review it gets my confidence up, and then something will just click.
