I am in a book club at church - very small 5-6 of us. We read a book a month and then meet and discuss it. It is more satisfying to me than I initially thought it would be. I talk about books with my brother in law who lives in another state but we don't get together as much as I would like. (As a matter of fact, I don't get to see he and my brother anywhere near as often as I would like). I love talking books with him because he is just as passionate about reading as I am, and we both read a large variety of things. He makes me laugh - he got his kindle after I already had mine - he was so excited and couldn't wait to lend me a book - he lent me one that I had already read  His enthusiasm was very charming.

All the time, actually! A lot of my friends are readers like me. We constantly recommend and discuss books we enjoyed (or hated, for that matter...) :D

I am involved with many many book clubs, and I review for a few different sites, so I really don't worry about that, mainly because a lot of people have either read it, or are currently reading it, so I am pretty good to discuss books!

Only with my husband and my dad. Nobody else in this country cares as much about books as I do :(

A good chunk of my friends read similar things to me so I get to talk about stuff with them, but the vast majority of the time I only talk about reading on here. It seems like no one I've met in person likes to have long, drawn out and in depth conversations about books. Or perhaps they do, but I haven't read things they have or the like.

Well, It's difficult when I work in a library. We talk about books all the time!
Besides my workplace, I talk about books all the time offline. It's a great conversation starter.

Yes, I do discuss books offline. As a visiting/guest teacher students often give me recommendations on good books to read. If I have managed to squeak a little time in with one of their books the next time I visit their school we can discuss the character, setting and genre, likes and dislikes on a book. It is a wonderful thing to sit down with a class of fifth graders and hear them discussing a book that they are reading.

I have like four or five friends with whom I actively discuss and debate about books. We don't set out wanting to talk about it, but invariably end up discussing them any way.

I discuss books whenever I get the opportunity. I live in a military community, so it waxes and wanes as "old" people move away and "new" ones arrive. Sometimes it seems like I'm surrounded by a sea of like-minded people who have read many of the same books as I have, and other times I can't find a single soul with whom I can have an intelligent discussion.

It depends on the book I've read in all honesty. I can talk to certain friends about some books, but not all.

I think a better question would be do you ever NOT discuss books offline! My friends and I are all book fiends, and no matter what we're talking about, we end up talking about books sooner or later. And I do it with random people I meet in libraries and bookstores, too! When I took the PSAT and they gave us a ten minute break, I pulled out my copy of Artemis Fowl and started reading. The girl next to me noticed, and we both started fangirling about the series. Turns out she had read and loved pretty much all of my favorite books! Then we got yelled at by the test administrator....

I am always happy to talk about a book I am reading even to those who have not read it, I am a quiet person, but I tend to chat about a good book............Also, I feel badly for the library staff who don't read...................

I have a circle of friends who has similar reading tastes and sometimes discuss books with them but time has spread us to the four winds so I rarely get to do that in person. Sometimes I can find a book club locally that's reading something I'm interested in or I will discuss what I enjoyed in the process of making a recommendation or asking for one.

Yeah, my book discussions offline usually go like this:

"Hey, have you read that book...?"

*blank stare*... "What's a book?"

Oh...yes. I wish I could discuss books more but it's either the people around think reading is boring or there's no time for it. It's nice having to discuss books and I make sure I listen when someone wants to discuss a book even if I've not read it.
