Satyajit Ray’s Feluda series

Post by ananya92 »

The gem of a man, Satyajit Ray, who is author, director, story-writer, etc all rolled into one, gave India its very own Sherlock Holmes, though someone who seems more flesh and blood. The books wrote from the perspective of Feluda’s young nephew who accompanies Feluda (aka Pradosh Mitter) on his adventures, for that’s what they are, without being serious crime thrillers. Along with Lalmohan Ganguly, the trio solves some of the most interesting cases and the books take the reader to different parts of India while solving mysteries. I think in Feluda’s enigmatic personality starting from his characteristic smoking style to his sudden, unprecedented moves, Satyajit Ray wraps an entire new world into his characters. I think with Feluda, Ray started a new cult of detective fiction in Bengal.
