The Floral Hand of God – Secret Healing Codes of Flowers Revealed, is a non-fiction book written by Dr. Brent W. Davis, a chiropractic physician and herbalist. In addition to being a chiropractor, Dr. Davis also has advanced training in classical homeopathy and applied kinesiology as well as core training in other natural diagnostic and therapeutic techniques. In this book, Dr. Davis makes a very well-researched presentation of a concept in alternative medicine that has actually been around for many decades, even back to ancient times, but has been updated with 20th century scientific techniques which Dr. Davis explains in this book. Dr. Davis said he wrote this book with the hope that the reader would be able to achieve greater happiness, contentment, and spiritual well-being in life by using the techniques he has been studying and working with. The book describes a new method to remove core causes of stress that can lead to illness and also describes a way to “overwrite” negative thoughts with positive ones which can help improve one’s life.

In the first part of the book, Dr. Davis describes how an accidental two-story fall that occurred while working during his college years left him with a chronic illness that conventional medicine couldn’t help him with. He had chronic fatigue from that fall and as a result it led him to seek out and study alternative ways to improve his health. He studied all the chiropractic and holistic practices and homeopathic remedies that he could find to help himself heal. The journey of his recovery helped him find how the healing powers of special flowers can work to clear negative thoughts and replace or “overwrite” those thoughts with positive ones that can help a person who is willing and receptive to an alternative method of therapy to enjoy life again.

This book was written not just as an informational book on how to improve one’s life, but it also includes information on how one can receive training to become a registered practitioner, a certified practitioner, and a certified instructor using Dr. Davis’s methods. It also explains how psychologists, mental health professionals and various holistic practitioners would benefit from using the energy from flowers in their practices to eliminate destructive beliefs and improve a person’s mental health.

This is a very interesting book to read and the style of writing made it a very easy read. It is written with a subtle touch of humor that makes it entertaining as well as educational. The information is presented in a very organized way so the reader can progress in knowledge and understanding and follow the information as it is presented.

I enjoyed reading this book because of how Dr. Davis told his life story along with how his research progressed and the many serendipitous things that led him to his findings. He felt he was guided in his research to meet the people who helped him and find the things he needed to find. The humor included in the story of his research made the ‘story’ fun to read and the chapter endings made me want to turn the page and see what was going to happen next.

There were some very, very, minute errors where words were missing or added in a couple of sentences and a printing error where a paragraph was split in the middle of a sentence, but overall the information was presented in a very professional manner. There were a lot of foot notes with additional information about specific points mentioned in the story.

I liked this book because of the way it was written and because of how the information was presented. Dr. Davis encountered a lot of things in his life which led him to a different way of thinking and looking at things that hasn’t been conventional or mainstream and has had positive results in his research. I have experienced a lot of problems with conventional medicine so I, too, have had to look for alternative ways to help myself, and I think that can make a person look deeper into things and see how things can and should be different. Dr. Davis has a website to go along with his book, which I have visited, and I think I would be interested in seeing how this information might be able to help me in my life.

I would recommend this book to college age and older adults as some of the words used and the information presented is for a more educated reader, but Dr. Davis tried to write the book for the average reader and I think that someone in high school would be able to understand the information presented. I would also agree with Dr. Davis’s recommendation of this book to massage therapists, yoga instructors, Reiki practitioners, nurses, and primary care licensed health professionals who want to learn about this alternative way to relieve stress and help individuals live better lives.

There is a notice at the end of the book stating that the training seminars are not part of any medical model and the training does not constitute medical, psychological or psychiatric care or treatment and that the Floral essences are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

I would give this book 4 out of 4 stars for the interesting and professional way the information is presented. It followed a very logical sequence of explanations of how the flower essences work and the research was well documented. There were many familiar names of other researchers mentioned who Dr. Davis met and worked with, or had permission to use their work and findings in his book, that supported Dr. Davis’s research.
