Maze Runner by James Dashner

Post by SmallPurpleBird »

I have just started the third book in the Maze Runner series- Death Cure. So far the books have been a little better than average. I feel that currently there have been so many books with the same themes found in the Maze Runner series (young teenagers, fighting for their lives in a world that has changed so much and in a life that turns out to be a lie), such as The Hunger Games and Divergent, however it could be that they all became prominent around the same time. So, although the similar themes makes this series a little repetitive, I have found the mystery surrounding the Gladers and Group B's memories captivating. I keep reading because I want to know why WICKED has put those teens through the trials, what importance it holds and why Thomas helped WICKED beforehand.
Dashner has made Thomas a character to whom many can relate to, a boy who has qualities that we would hope to possess; such as his determination, smart thinking and compassion for others.
I look forward to completing Death Cure and starting Kill Order!
