Well, it really depends for me. If I like the book and the story and ignore what I am supposed to be doing (any chores, homework, etc.) then I could probably finish it in about half a week maybe 3 to 4 days. But then it takes a lot to get me hooked into the book completely. By that I mean, sometimes I'll love the book at the beginning then about halfway through, I lose interest in how the story is playing out.

Or a 1000 page book?

Books that are 300-500 pages usually take me a week. Less than that if it is a page turner.
If a book is really good, an 800-1000 page book will take me about 10 days. If it is not that interesting, it will take me two to three weeks :angelic-green:
500 pages I can read for a couple of days if the book is not tedious and I have a good concentration.
But ususally it takes more time because of work, family, etc. Sometimes its hard to find an hour or two just to read and nothing more)

I'm a quick reader so it will generally take me about 5-8 hours, depending on my enjoyment of said book, to finish a 1, 000 page book. GOTTA LOVE THOSE DOORSTOPPERS!

Being that I have an over night job, I read a lot to try and stay awake. It's where I get most of my reading done. Sometimes I read 4 to 5 books in the 4 days of noc shift. Sometimes less. Depending on how busy I am doing actual work. Generally, I can finish one 500 page book in a night to a night and a half. That's due to me being a fast reader, and having 10 uninterrupted hours to do so, hah.

But like I said, it can depend on the night. Sometimes I try to space it out, to make the book last longer if it's really good.

How long it takes to read a 500 page book depends on its subject matter.

It really depends on how into the book I am. I finished two of the Harry Potter books in one day (and half the night ) :P

It really depends on the book and how engaging it is. I can finish it in 2 days - 2 weeks. And let me be honest.. it also depends on my daily schedule. If I have a lot going on.. there is less minutes to spend reading at one time but even that can be overridden by a good book.

The amount of time it takes me usually depends on the book. I've had 1000+ page books where the first 300 or so pages dragged along for a week or two only for me to finally get into it and devour up the rest in a weekend.

It definitely depends on the book. On average 4 to 5 days. Right now it's spring am I am putting in the garden. During the winter a 500 page book is usually less than 4 days.

I wish it would only take a week! lately, any book has been taking me forever to read! I like to read when I'm at the gym, so if I'm reading an e-book it takes me way less time...

in general, a 500 page book will take me about a month.

It depends on the book and how much time I have, usually a day or two for 500 pages.

On average it's about a week for a 500 page book, but lately it's been taking me longer because I'm in college and also have a job. If I didn't have those I would be reading 24/7!

It's difficult to answer that question. If the book is hard to put down, then I would say as quickly as 1 1/2 - 3 days. If the book is good but dense reading, it's anyone's guess how long I will take to finish it. It took me 3 weeks to finish Flight Behavior, and I also read another book during that time.

Wow, that's a lot of pages for one week! A 400 page book will take me up to a year to finish. At the moment, I can only do 500 words a day. If I were to write a 800 page tome, it'll take me at least two years at my current rate. Pages can be deceiving though. It is word count that really matters.

When my brother was driving truck cross country, he bought a speed reading course through the mail, and asked me to try it out before his 90 day-money-back-guarantee ran out. The program worked amazingly well. Within a week, I was reading 1500 a minute. Needless to say, I started consuming books to popcorn. People always ask me, doesn't reading that fast take the suspense out of the story. and the answer is - no more than watching a movie from beginning to end in one setting. With the really good books, I will spend the next several days thinking about them. I can finish a 500 page book in about 3 hours.
